Icrontic New Years 2015 (ICNY)
Yo, it's time. This year, New Years Day falls on a Friday, so it works out fairly well for a weekend event, if perhaps a little front-loaded.
Aaron & I won't be home until Sun Dec 27 (probably around dinner) so I don't recommend showing up earlier than that day. No one in the house has Dec 28-30 off from work (Mon-Wed) so plan to amuse yourself accordingly if you arrive that early.
Planned festivities so far:
- The traditional countdown New Years Eve with champagne
- A viewing of the new Sherlock
If you're contributing to the supply of bubbly (first: thank you), please let me know how much ahead of time so I don't over-purchase. We have plenty of plastic champagne flutes. In other news, I forgot to break out @Jokke's beer contribution for ICOK so we have that to look forward to also.
It should be warmer in the attic than previous ICNYs due to the windows being fixed. That said, the basement is available as an alternative if you prefer. Please post here to claim sleeping space, and whether you are bringing an air mattress.
Travel plans go over here: http://icrontic.com/discussion/100112/icrontic-new-years-2015-travel-plans
Please remember to arrange your own airport rides if you're flying in. That doesn't mean we won't come and get you, it means we won't unless directly asked, and we super appreciate it when y'all self-organize.

I'm happy to contribute funds or buying while there.
In!
maybe and bringing some Pho with me.
Maybe... maybe... I gotta find miles flights that work again lol
In! And will probably be sleeping in the basement. I conveniently left my air mattress there!
I think I was fine with attic last time I was there, as long as there is sufficient blanket/sleeping bag action.
I'm not sure how warm the attic will be. I had a space tent up there and I still eventually had to move down to Kyle's room. I know one day it was 17 up there. With improved windows I bet it will be at least ten to fifteen degrees warmer, but still.
I must be remembering ICOK 2014 then. Thanks for the warning!
In, dibs on two people worth of basement space (fo the missus)
I am sure your wife doesn't take up two people's worth of space.
Probably in for Friday night. We host for Thursday, so won't happen.
I'll tentatively claim a spot for an air mattress upstairs, but in reality I would do fine with any spot roughly 80"x27"
In. Bought tickets last night.
In. Will need a cot in the attic or basement.
In! Can't wait to see you all
well, I don't need to make pho anymore. We can just go to Pho Lucky thats in Detroit now.
strong maybe for us -- me + @sazboom + kid + dog + new puppy
Happy to contribute booze or $
bring forth the doggers.
So...uh...
IN
Elizabeth will be joining the new years' party as well. Another cot reserved, please.
FYI, temperature in attic is currently about +15°F outdoor (high 30s vs low 50s), so unless the year ends in a sudden cold snap I expect it to be fairly comfortable up there.
The forecast calls for 80% chance of wild Bandriks appearing. Will take attic with small air mattress.
Due to job situation, and the fact that to use my miles would be weird days in and out, I think I'm gonna have to skip ICNY no drunk off champagne Kelso shenanigans
Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't realize this was a "prey on each other's insecurities" thread.
Also, if it wasn't already obvious… In.
Plans finally settled: in for @RyanFodder and myself, 12/30-1/3. No pups, and staying @ hotel recommended by @Ryder.
We are making a trip to do this when most of the peeps are here.

Remember that every damn thing will be closed on Friday Jan 1. If we're not doing the tea party that day, we'd be wise to plan a cook-in meal or two. I remember this being a pain point last year.
I'm happy to whip up a meal! Chili with cornbread?!
I had also talked to people about making my family chicken and olives spaghetti recipe, but chili might be easier.
Who said we go for easy?!?
I'm happy to help with whatever.
This is not a true/full IMAX screen. It's the IMAX Digital variety, which is no better than a high quality everyday theatre. If you were hoping to get the 70mm and/or laser projection experience, you can't get it in Michigan.
If you picked that screen simply because it's close, then rock on.
//EDIT: pedantic correction. Henry Ford has true 70mm IMAX, but I don't think they have rights to TFA.
