CD Projekt RED teases new RPG title

CD Projekt RED, creators of The Witcher franchise, and GOG.com, purveyors of video game history will unveil more details about the new “AAA” RPG they’ve been hiring for. From the supplied image, it’s clearly not going to be anything close to the classic fantasy/magic setting of their previous games. It’s a high-tech setting with a punkish flair.

The press release is vague:

Hey folks… lots of speculation about what CD Projekt RED and GOG.com will talk about tomorrow during their Summer Conference. One thing’s for sure… there will be an announcement about the new AAA RPG in development at the studio.

The Summer Conference announcement will be broadcast tomorrow in a livestream from their Facebook page at 10am Pacific / 1pm Eastern / 5pm GMT.

Update:

The game has been revealed as a take on Mike Pondsmith’s pen-and-paper RPG CyberPunk 2020. CD Projekt RED promises cutting edge graphics, a mature and deep storyline, and the ability to fully customize your character.

29 May 2012 ~ 4:43pm Guppy Shadowrun Returns is in the works right now, so I don't think CD Projekt RED would release a Shadowrun game also. It would be cool though.

Regardless, any decent cyberpunk RPG would really hit the spot for me.

Shadowrun Returns is in the works right now, so I don't think CD Projekt RED would release a Shadowrun game also. It would be cool though.

30 May 2012 ~ 1:01pm BuddyJ I'm still hoping it's a Shadowrun title. Shadowrun Returns is all old-school 2050 stuff IIRC. This could tie-in with the 2072 setting from 4th Edition.

Fingers crossed chummers. This one may be worth the creds.
