Mass Effect 3 trailer gets extended

BioWare released an extended trailer for Mass Effect 3. This time they have stepped into the Dead Island realm, but we’re all pretty sure this game will actually be good.

Comments

  1. Michael Wilson If there are not massive battles against army sized forces in this game I will be disappointed, until I launch Serious Sam 3.
  2. Binh Nguyen lol I was thinking the same thing!
  3. fatcat Ashley went and got all hot hot, so now I have to play ME1 again and let Kaiden die..
  4. Binh Nguyen I've always let Kaiden die....
  5. pigflipper

    ^This
  6. csimon I failed at Origin login ...how sad. I really wanted to demo this.
  7. Snarkasm Funny, I thought Ashley looked terrible compared to her original model. Faces are so damn important, and they're all wrong.

Crossing fingers it was just the demo.

Oh, also: now everybody has a Normandy? And here I thought Shepard was special.
  8. Tushon Having not played any of the games, I thought the people looked great, but seemed like some of the details (fire stuck out a lot!) were stuck on after-effects. I hope that is also demo-only.
  9. Snarkasm Original Ash:

    New Ash:

The wiki has some other images from the original.

And just look at how damn terrible she (and Anderson, and Shepard, and everybody...) looks when she speaks.

I think my complaint with the character models mostly deals with how bad the faces animate, but her radical style change doesn't help, either. She looks all right when she shuts up, but... guh.
  10. Basil Wait, that's Ash?

Eugh, she looks more like a hairdresser than a soldier.
  11. pigflipper Well, Ash is an officer now and how many years is this game after the first? Quit bitchin about minor details.
  12. Snarkasm Heh, she's racist/speciesist in the first, too. Wonder if she still is.
  13. fatcat

She is a spectre now, so I doubt it.

That video is a bad example of facial animations and pretty much everything else. At 20 seconds a character is frozen in place between Anderson and Shepard for several seconds before blinking out of existence. I don't like to use the "it's just a demo" excuse but after seeing that I think it's pretty clear they still have some things to correct. Facial animations might be one of them. Also, something about the running animation in the playable demo is hilariously awkward.

    I agree and approved
  16. Snarkasm If only that was in-game imagery...
  17. Koreish I lost my save file when my hard drive crashed and I still haven't gone back to replay the games the way I had everything originally. Alas I don't think I'll have Super Shepard back in time for ME3.
    I've always let Kaiden die....
Kaiden was actually a really good choice to let live if you went renegade. You can harden him and make him way more racist/specieist than Ashley is in ME1

  18. Binh Nguyen Yeah, but have a hard time going renegade for some odd reason...
  19. fatcat also Live action trailer...

  20. Canti
Yeah, but have a hard time going renegade for some odd reason...
    That's a shame

  21. Tushon I'm pretty sure that is over 9000, let me check my power meter.
  22. Koreish Her cheeks are so hollowed looking, and she has manly jawls too. Weird.
  23. fatcat This is it, isn't it?.....

  24. Canti My ability to resist pre-ordering this instead of waiting to buy it when it's on sale is much weaker after watching that.

I was going to wait as well. Now impossible.

I luckily have the day off from work next Tuesday :)
  27. Snarkasm Everybody's back

    Gigantic space battles

Telling the Illusive Man to fuck off

    I need a towel.

This comes out on like the 9th [edit: 7th!] for me and I couldn't take time off until the 14th :(
  28. Ilriyas Can't...resist...buying...must...be...Turian...in...coop
  29. Canti
    Everybody's back
uuuuhhh yeah...everyone. I didn't kill any Krogans on my team in Mass Effect 1 or anything....certainly not Wrex. Don't look at me like that.

Canti! That wasn't very paragon of you!!
  31. Canti Just remembered I had $50 left on an Amazon gift card. ME3 got. Come at me Reapers.
  32. Thrax Okay, now that I've finished ME2 (just in the nick of time), I finally sat down to watch this trailer.

I cannot believe how good the CGI was. I'm usually one of the first to whine about the uncanny valley, and can always spot CGI characters/environment, but this was seriously good work. Seriously freakin' good. Wow.
  33. Canti Game unlocked. Brb, punching Reapers in the dick.
  34. primesuspect Bye bye Icrontic. See you guys when you all get back from punching reapers in the dick.
  35. pigflipper I won't have a chance to play until the 14th at the earliest, no money and I am working insane hours right now. Need to wait for next paycheck and extended down time.
  36. fatcat Beat the game, here is my review.

  37. Koreish So the opening to ME3 is based on DLC for ME2? That I didn't buy, and now my Shepard seemingly went against character because the game was trying to fill that void. Bioware and EA are devious bastards.

That outcome was inevitable and not a choice. EVERYONE is forced to make that choice in the DLC.
  39. Church4252 I believe the bridge between ME2 and ME3 was the DLC named Arrival.
  40. fatcat Yup, it was Arrival, which you should have played. BUY ALL DLC's people lol
  41. Canti I just watched this.

Looks pretty shit for the price they're charging.

  43. Koreish I'm at 9% installation after 6 hours. I might be setting a record.
  44. Thrax It's all about Yeoman Kelly, gentlemen.
  45. Church4252
It's all about Yeoman Kelly, gentlemen.
    *cries* I TRIED!!!! >_<
  46. UPSLynx >Implying Kelly is still alive in my game.
  47. Snarkasm I saved her ass, all right. I saved errrbody.
  48. UPSLynx She was the only one I didn't manage to save. I didn't realize that getting her out alive was time dependent, and I spent too much time looking around.
  49. Thrax Mordin and Miranda died in my timeline. As a completionist gamer, it upsets me. As a human being who finds eugenics and Miranda deplorable, it's cool.
  50. Snarkasm My last playthrough was picture-fucking-perfect. Everybody saved, everybody perfectly loyal, all missions complete with perfect paragon outcomes. It is glorious.

I cannot wait to throw it into ME3 and watch it destroy my work by forcing somebody to die.
  51. Canti

    paragon
    Your logic is flawed.
I cannot wait to throw it into ME3 and watch it destroy my work by forcing somebody to die.
I'm several hours in and don't know what you're referring to. The only forced death is Ashley or Kaiden.

  52. fatcat Bioware has said major people will die in ME3 and there won't be shit you can do about it. #dealwithit
  53. Canti I should have expected as much. More company for the Turian general I put a hit on last night I suppose.
  54. fatcat yea there is a lot of rage towards Bioware right now, and not even for the DLC
  55. Thrax Another equally viable explanation is that the assets were complete and shipped with the GM disc, but the remaining DLC content (scripting, audio, etc.) were not done in time. Why wouldn't you package as many files as you could into the retail download, rather than wacking people with a massive DLC file later?
  56. UPSLynx Why waste space on a disk or download and install for those who aren't going to bother with the DLC? You've made it easier for those who want to buy the DLC, and made it worse for those who don't want it.

Optional content, optional install. Don't put assets on my PC for the sake of doing it.
  57. Thrax Of course, if a plurality of your playerbase is going to purchase the DLC, it still makes sense. ;) Plus, those assets can be re-used for any other DLC (free or otherwise) along the way.
  58. Koreish I wasn't going to get the Prothean to begin with, but now I might since I don't have to purchase DLC. Thanks Bioware.
  59. fatcat The DLC fills in SO MUCH back story, must have for the die hard Mass Effect fan
  60. Snarkasm It would seem we have differing views. I guess I haven't played it without, so I can't be sure, but there's really only one scene I had where having him with me made a distinct difference and filled in information.
  61. UPSLynx I'm a Mass Effect die hard and I haven't played a single DLC for any of the 3 games.

    I effing hate DLC.
  62. Thrax Guess you're only a critically injured hard. Sorry, bro.
  63. fatcat

I didn't say difference, I said back story, yanno the 50,000 years between

Do you talk to all of your companions after every mission/side quest?
  64. Snarkasm Mission yes. Crappy little "I lost my obelisk" side quests, no.

Howdy, ! Got something to say?
