Iwill is soon to release the ZMAXdp, a dual-processor workstation box neatly packaged in a small form factor.
The product release comes after months of delays that were rooted in the obvious: fitting and cooling dual Opteron chips in the small form factor. Nevertheless, the feat is impressive. I have always been impressed by the small form factor systems, especially as potential media center systems. Until the slim media center PCs become mainstream, small form factor boxes are the only systems I’d ever consider letting sit in my living room. But even for office or desktop use, I think this is certainly the right direction. The Iwill system even manages to fit an AGP 8x slot, along with room for dual hard drives. Rumor is that Iwill is planning on surpassing this product with a similar release that has dual PCI Express (SLI) graphics capability–that would certainly be impressive.
