New Web Protocol May Leave DSL in the Dust

With the click of a BIC, speeding along the information superhighway may begin to feel like zooming down Germany’s no-holds-barred Autobahn.

BIC-TCP (binary increase congestion transmission control protocol) is a new data-transfer protocol that “makes today’s high-speed digital subscriber line (DSL) connections seem lethargic,” say computer science researchers at North Carolina State University (NCSU).

KingFish Maybe I'll be able to finally realize my plans of hosting a kickin' ftp site, concurrent Battlefield Vietnam & Desert Combat game hosts, and web server on my dsl line for my current bill of 50 bucks. I'm all for it. Where do I sign up?

Nosferatu The German Autobahn is far from "no-holds-barred".

Geeky1 Nosferatu, that all depends on where you go and what you mean. Portions of it do have speed limits, but other portions do not. And, of course, there's always a set of traffic laws that must be obeyed. But it's far closer to "no holds barred" than anything we have over here (well, except if you're in Nevada, or if you're in Louisiana, happen to get pulled over by a certain S-M member while he is in a good mood, and can prove that you're a fellow member... ;);D)
