Genuine Windows Validation Flaw Fixed

The Unofficial Microsoft Blog has reported that Microsoft a few days ago fixed a flaw in their new Windows Genuine Validation tool that previously allowed people to circumvent the system with a simple JavaScript.

    Butters This seemed to work for me. But I disabled the Tools => Manage Addons Microsoft Genuine Adv. restarted the browser, and it seemed to work just fine.

    Tex I don't show "Microsoft Genuine Adv" in the list of browser addons period

    What I bet pops up all over is third party sites and usenet groups that start hosting the MS updates so they can just be downloaded and run localy without MS update period.

    Yeah that works too. The funny thing about that is, it's not even a hack. ;D

    Again though, it only works for Windows Update.

    That's a Firefox thing, and Windows Update only works in Internet Explorer.

    Nope. IE has the "Manage Add-Ons" feature. :)

    Click "tools" third from the top is manage add-ons. Below popup blocker and above synchronize
