With the huge news of AMD buying ATI, the semiconductor market has been a bit hectic the last few days. As rumors still are flying around I decided to e-mail a friend of mine deep within the Nvidia fortress to see if a AMD relationship was still in place, and according to him AMD is still the same with Nvidia as it was yesterday.
Sources within Nvidia had this to say after the formal response AMD gave confirming the purchase of ATI.
– We will continue to partner closely with both processor companies – Intel and AMD
– Our PC strategy remains the same – to be the leading supplier of GPU and platform technologies, whether for Intel or AMD processors.
It looks as if for now the AMD/ ATI merger will not affect the relationship with Nvidia. I don’t see how AMD plans to keep this up unless they plan to drop the ATI graphics card line as a main product and push only Nvidia product. I guess only time will tell…
