Ahhh, that means the 65nm Quads will be even more of a bargain. I can smell upgrades for my Folding farm in the making!
Face it, I think AMD's future will be for the low-end, budget market. Intel will have series production and wide-spread distribution of quad core 45nm before AMD has it's first series quads readily available. We keep waiting for the proverbial rabbit from AMD's hat. The guinea pigs being produced by the AMD magicians may be cute, furry rodents, but they aren't rabbits.

Only 1 CPU is being released on that date though which shouldn't really change the price of the current bargain CPU, a Q6600, or push another CPU into that position. We will have to wait until Jan 2k8 for more reasonable priced 45nm CPUs to come out to force prices of 65nm CPUs to drastically drop.
As the article said, Intel has no real reason to push for 45nm. Biggest reason would be to not follow in AMDs footsteps; Get a technology lead and sit on it only to eventually fall way behind.
