Nexus HXR-5500 heat spreaders

The Nexus HXR-5500 heat spreaders work pretty darn well, but the main reason to check this out is because it features animated graphs!

Leonardo Dubious value in my opinion. Nowhere does the article state how the supposed RAM temperatures were measured. Without better documentation, I give that article very little credibility.

As a gadget, those heatspreaders look like fun, and would make great eye candy (I happen to like eye candy) in a windowed case. But I really am cynical as to if the spreaders will actually change performance. I have been looking a long time for any definitive, rigorous testing to show that heatspreaders on RAM accomplish more than making an aggressive appearance.

Your-Amish-Daddy The OCZ reaper heatspreader system doesn't work too well in my opinion since it actually changes the thermal footprint. Heat rises sure, but if there's no cold air, only half of the memory will get cool, the rest will just get hotter. So this one with it's impure side-to-side contact will only cause more problems if improperly installed and even when done correctly I see only a marginal benefit in it.

Corsair Dominator. You don't get PC2-11000 w/o spreaders.

Your-Amish-Daddy I'm not saying heatspreaders are a bad idea. I'm saying I don't like how the Nexus HXR-5500's are designed, that's all.
