    Thrax I don't like 3DMark, but... I came.
  2. RWB
    RWB Windows Vista only.... bleh
  3. Leonardo
Leonardo Does Futuremark think there will be enough interest with Vista only users? It seems to me that the majority of people running the benchmark would be using Windows XP. Reasoning: are there that many people doing high-end gaming on off the shelf machines, off the shelf machines being the primary contributor to the installed Windows Vista user base. I mean, how many hardcore gamers have 'upgraded' their computers to Vista from a retail box installation?

shwaip I assume it's got something to do with DX10. :/

Thrax 3DMark always leverages the newest version of DirectX. The newest version of DirectX is 10. 10 is vista only. That's that. :)

primesuspect I was gonna say it. Thrax said it. There's a lot more under the hood with Vista than people realize - a completely different driver model for video. You simply can't write a hardcore 3D app that will utilize all of DX10 and work under XP.

Harudath The graphics are just insane >.<

Thrax It'll be the most gorgeous slideshow ever.

Harudath That's weird to see- I took the "see-if-your-pc-can-run-this-thing" test, I got 14,000 3Dmarks and saw "Your System does not meet the minimum requirements". Sucks to Vista.

    Heck yeah!

I love gaming, I love graphics, I love hardware, and I love pushing it all. But until they clean up some of Vista's ugly parts, I'll stay a PC gamer on XP. Sadly, I'd love to push my machine and see how it performs on this new 3DM, but I can't find it within me to install the copy of Vista that I have. I was hoping gaming performance would be up with SP1, but unfortunately that isn't the case TBH

Snarkasm What do you play? TF2 runs wonderfully on mine, as do all the other Steam games (all on high settings and everything).
