    BuddyJ Virtual-Hideout also reviews it:

This looks to be a hell of a heatsink.

As compared to the stock heatsink? It's 'looks' good, but I'd like to see compared to more of the well-documented top performers, like the TR Ultra 120E, Tuniq 120, and the *OCZ Vendetta 2.

*OK, I recognize the Vendetta 2 isn't all that well documented in the tech press. I threw that in basically because of my own experience with it. :)

Maybe we've got to get one into the IC labs ;)

BuddyJ I'll send up the OCZ signal.

Thrax Leo pointed out exactly what I was thinking throughout this article: Where are the best heatsinks? Great, so it's better than the other thousand mediocre "Me too" tower coolers.
  7. BuddyJ
BuddyJ I've contacted OCZ. If they come through, hopefully we'll have some numbers that are a bit more meaningful in the near future.

lemonlime I've got Sunbeam's Core-Contact Freezer on the way also. Will be great to get some additional high-end sinks in the lab :)

BuddyJ Good news everyone! OCZ is sending the Vendetta 2! We'll give it the Icrontic treatment soon enough.

Leonardo BJ, before you mount the heatsink (V2) for your test, do two things:

Practice dry mounting (no TIM, just the plastic film protector to protect the CPU) and read this article on TIM application for heatpipe direct touch bases. It's a very well written and illustrated guide to TIM application. The HTD area is on the fourth page. Concerning the practice mounting - it's because of the Intel push-pin mounting system. I was surprised at how well it worked on my V2. The final mount was just as tight as my other sinks. But then, the V2 is light compared to a Tuniq Tower and Ultra 120 E. I also recommend mounting the heatsink with the motherboard removed from the case, unless you have lots of experience with using push-pin mounts.

Good timing for us. There are not a lot of Vendetta 2 reviews out yet.

_k Yes you must practice installation with the V2 or just do everything outside of the case. It can get kind of frustrating really quick with those feet and not enough room for your hands. Also how is the zerotherm the only cooler that has a higher idle temp than load....funny though it beating out the Asus Silent Knight2 a lot of my friends love that sink but the cost is prohibitive.

Thanks for the tips, Leo. I'll be sure to take a look at that TIM guide before I start testing..
