Who knows what any of us would have done. Dropping the child to a policeman below, even though there was a chance that the child would miss the outstretched arms, was a good decision. Babies' lungs are much more susceptible to damage than adults' lungs. The child at least had a chance by being removed from the smoke.
That's a horrifying thought. I can't imagine. I think every parent has dark fantasies about what they would do in situations like that. I guess you just act, which is probably what saved that boy's life.

I have dark fantasies, but they're not about babies. I know, I know, oh, oh, oh.

Hard to say what I'd do without seeing the full extent of the situation first hand. He made the right choice, but it definitely wasn't the easiest one. That probably wasn't an easy catch. Just imagine how ruined that officer would have been had he not made the catch.
Adrenaline makes decisions in times like this. I'd like to think that mine would do the right thing too.

Honestly, I would have abandoned the baby and saved myself. Yes, I'm a cold-hearted bastard.
It was a good decision imo- letting the baby die in a fire or give it a chance by hoping the crowd catches it.
Good point. Maybe he should have titled the shorty, "Drop or DIAF"

If there wasn't someone there to catch the bay, I might have even jumped with the baby in hopes that I would take the brunt of the damage... Again, no idea what I would be willing to do to save my child.
