26 Feb 2008 ~ 9:52pm Leonardo So, I thought to myself, "What is high definition audio?" I looked it up and discovered that I have it on three of my computers, rendered through the Azalia audio chips on my Abit and Gigabyte motherboards. I'm so happy I don't know what to do.

Silly me, sitting on this incredible revolution, the whole time thinking the sound reproduced from my relatively new motherboards was merely an incremental improvement over the previous standard.

OK, to be fair, I suppose I would need high quality speakers to take advantage of the HDMI standard.
26 Feb 2008 ~ 9:56pm Snarkasm ... you'd also need HDMI out. The Azalia chips are great, and make my Z5500s sound mighty nice even though they're nowhere near audiophile standards, but that's exactly what the article's talking about. You can't get the real HD audio out without HDMI.

27 Feb 2008 ~ 2:02am TheLostSwede The difference between DTS-HD, Dolby TrueHD compared to the 5.1, Dolby Digital, THX, DTS etc is enormous. There is actually more difference to the sound than the picture from DVD to Full HD.
