Leonardo Strange, I didn't see the tip on how to avoid MEGATONS OF SPAM. My Gmail account has become simply a rubbish bin for hundreds of weekly SPAM messages. I'm about ready to dump it, get a new one, or move to Yahoo for a throwaway Webmail account.
  2. NiGHTS
NiGHTS Read as: 4 or 5 extensions for firefox you can download, a few buttons you can push, and a suggestion or two.

Leo, that megaton of spam actually makes it to your inbox? In the last 6 months, I'd say roughly 3 messages slipped past the spam filter.

    :horrified:

How many do you actually mark as spam? I had that issue for a while, but was diligent about marking them and the issue is gone

Leonardo To be fair, about 98% (or even better) is caught by Gmail's automatic SPAM filter and stuffed in the SPAM folder. Only about two or three messages weekly do I need to manually tag as SPAM and delete. It's just amazing the quantity of crap that gets slung around the Internet.

My biggest concern is that legit mail with a flaky subject or strange sender name might get siphoned off into the SPAM folder instead of landing in the inbox. With literally hundreds of messages in the SPAM folder, I might not even notice the legitimate message floating in the sewer.
  5. Linc
Linc I don't even worry about false positives on Gmail.

    So far, so good. ;D

So THAT is why you never respond to my emails!!! ;D
  7. primesuspect
primesuspect I've had two false positives in my gmail spam box, which is not good for my confidence - there's no way to change the sensitivity.
  8. GHoosdum
GHoosdum I've also experienced a few false positives. It is definitely disconcerting, because I don't know how many false positives I've missed and deleted with the spam.
  9. Snarkasm
Snarkasm I check and clean my spam every day. Then again, I check religiously, and never get more than 40 in a day, I suppose, so at 5 spam at a time, it's easy to check.

Howdy, Stranger!
