edcentric Can I live without an optical drive?
Finally a laptop that is light and not microscopic.
  2. Leonardo
Leonardo Gotta hand to Apple - they hire top tier designers. What a beautiful laptop. If you buy one though, sell it before the battery degrades. The battery is not user replaceable.

    Agree, 1 USB - is this 2001???

My Dell 8600 only has 2 USB ports and I find it lacking....

IMO Apple is the king of "almost" perfect manufacturing...

I liken them to Ferrari putting a 45 lb hood ornament and radil street tires on an Enzo.....

Linc No ROM is totally fine. I had my doubts, but I've been optical-free on my notebook for 3+ years with no worries. I have an external for reloading apps, and that's all I ever need it for.

1 USB is a bit stingy, but carrying a tiny hub isn't a big deal either. The only thing I'd need it for is a mouse and jump drive.

Snarkasm Let's not forget about no ethernet unless you use up your only USB port.

Pretty device, but definitely meant to be a second computer, or even second laptop.

GrayFox If it was at a lower price point I would sell my macbook and save up for one.

Thrax The MBA just fills a role that a lot of people don't need, I believe. In portability and connectivity, the Eee wins: It's extremely capable, customizable, and has user-replaceable components. Oh, it's 1/5th the price.

The EEE pc has far too low resolution of a screen to be a serious competitor.

mmonnin With the price of the EEEEEEEE it can compete anywhere.

Oh, well there goes the exclusivity factor!
