Microsoft listened for IE8!

Microsoft listened for IE8!

Microsoft has reversed its decision to have IE8 render as IE7 by default, which would have made web developers “opt in” to using better standards.

Thrax Web developers will finally be able to code without half their style sheets being taken up with "Hacks" to make IE work like it <i>should</i>. For example, dropdown boxes (Select lists) are rendered currently with the OS, rather than as a form element by the browser.

    It's ****ing stupid.

Previously, they were going to make web developers "opt in" to standards, meaning a lot of the web was going to be frozen in IE7's "reality" of rendering, which still has a decent way to go before catching up with Firefox et. al.

We'd have to add markup to all our web pages to ask IE8 to do a better job, rather than it just doing so (like every other browser ever made... ever).
