US Gov wants a peek at your e-mail

The new policy would allow the government to access to the content of any email, file transfer, or web search.

DogDragon one way I see around this is, If I was going to plan something
I didn't want the gov. to know. I would get the people I need to do it
into a online war game and use team speak.
Than if they (gov.) were listening they would have to figure if I were
    talking game play or reality.
The odds of them listening to online war games would be slim anyways.
My understanding is they use computers to watch the web and if the
computers flag to many things than a person would listen to see what's
    going on.
I don't think they go on gamers servers cause the gov. computer
would melt down from all the words flagged.
Also to send the info That I didn't want them to know, Have your pc
set up with RAID system. Send the info off the hard drives (one at a time)
so none of the info is complete( just useless bits)unless you have the info
    from both
Don't know if that would work, But if I came up with that off the top of
my head. Someone who's knows what they're doing should be able to get
    around it.

CB And that's exactly the problem with this kind-of stuff. I don't have anything to hide, so I don't get any privacy, but if I had somethign to hide, it would be relatively easy to get around the snooping, making it useless. It's a waste of tax-moneys to investigate pool of information that consists only of all of the correspondences from every person who has nothing to hide.

Leonardo I really don't have a comment on the proposed policy until I read some details. I'm seeing a lot of broad terminology, vague assumptions, and conjecture. Essentially what's being reported now is reporting for reporting's sake.
