Today Adobe has announced the impending release of their newest addition to their Creative Suite lineup, Creative Suite 5 Web Premium. CS5 Web Premium will include the latest versions of several of Adobe’s widely-used software, including Adobe Flash Professional, Adobe Dreamweaver, Adobe Photoshop Expanded, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Fireworks. There are two newcomers to the party as well: Adobe Flash Catalyst and Flash Builder.
By and far, Adobe is touting the upgrades they have made to their Flash lineup the most. It will include support for the upcoming Flash Player version 10.1, as well as the ability to make Adobe AIR 2 applications—which can be optimized to run well on mobile device screens. Using Flash Professional CS5, developers can build AIR apps for the iPhone and iPad using the new Packager for iPhone tool — with support for Android, BlackBerry, and Palm webOS on its way.

A mix of old and new is in CS5 Web Premium
Flash Professional CS5 now has a new text manipulation system dubbed the Text Layout Framework, built to add more advanced features such as kerning, tracking, and multiple columns. It also features a new Code Snippets Panel for quick insertion of commonly-used blocks of code, such as the code for timeline navigation, animation, and embedded video.
Adobe is also supplementing Flash Professional CS5 with two new software tools, Adobe Flash Catalyst and Flash Builder. Catalyst is more suited for creative-minded designers for creating the layouts of app interfaces and how they interact with the user. Meanwhile, Flash Builder 4 is geared towards developers who deal heavily with code, making it well suited for rich Internet apps.
Dreamweaver also gets a little bit more shine in its new CS5 iteration. Dreamweaver now has support for popular third-party PHP-based content management systems such as WordPress, Joomla!, and Drupal—all visible from within the Dreamweaver program. Dreamweaver CS5 also sports the new Dynamic Related Files feature, granting direct access to the web project’s entire library of related files, speeding up page updates and simplifies file management. Yet another upgrade is the inclusion of the popular “Live View” feature for quick proofreading of the code and CMS design themes.
Adobe Web Premium CS5 also comes with integration into the new Adobe CS Live system. CS Live is a set of five online services designed to streamline the development workflow. Initially the services will be complimentary, but will only remain free for a limited time.
Adobe Creative Suite 5 Web Premium is set to release within 30 days from now, at an estimated price of $1,799. Upgrade pricing for those with previous Creative Suite licenses will be available, as well as volume licensing. It can be found through Adobe’s various sales channels, including Adobe Authorized Resellers, their own Adobe Store (can be pre-ordered now), as well as Adobe Direct Sales.
