Adobe has announced the launch date for Creative Suite 5. This is the latest incarnation of the critically acclaimed Creative Suite. This news comes hot off the tail of the recently released beta for Adobe Lightroom 3.
This is essentially an announcement of an announcement. Details of what to expect from CS5 are very slim. The launch date, listed as April 12, 2010, will be an introduction of CS5 to the public, not an actual launch of the software. With the reveal will be full details on the software package, which can be presumed to mean an actual release date, pricing information, and product features.
What is known about Creative Suite 5 is that Flash CS5 will have the ability to export Flash ActionScript 3 projects in the .ipa format, which is the Apple App Store standard. This functionality will allow Flash developers to create iPhone applications within Flash CS5 exclusively.
The CS5 launch website features a lot of sneak peek videos that showcase some of what to expect out of Creative Suite 5. Among the topics of these videos are Flash Catalyst, which is an interaction design tool for Flash Applications without the need for coding. Also featured in the video highlights is the new Mercury Playback Engine for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects CS5. Mercury Playback enables an NVIDIA Quadro powered system to boost real-time playback performance by making the GPU do the heavy lifting.
With only 18 days until the official launch, many artists are anxious to see what Adobe dishes out in this round of Creative Suite. In only two and a half weeks, the CS5 launch will ensure that we all keep kissing the feet of our Adobe overlords.
