Ambitious NZXT Facebook contest culminates in “Ultimate Mystery Prize”

NZXT launched a grand experiment in the form of a Facebook contest four months ago. The goal was to get 4,000 fans on Facebook; at various tiers they would unveil a prize and give it away to one of the eligible fans. Throughout the summer they gave away a lot of swag, including cases, fans, fan controllers, and more.

It worked: They’re ready to announce the final prize; and when the total number hits the magic 4000, one lucky-ass winner will get a full high end PC, all crammed into an exceptionally awesome custom Phantom mod made by Bill Owens of MNPCTECH. From the press release, here is a short description from Bill of the Mod process:

“The louvered grills were inspired by an exotic sports car. They look aggressive without compromising airflow. They were cnc milled from 1/5″ thick 6061 aluminum. We re-sprayed the Phantom with a “White Pearl Flake” Automotive paint by House of Kolor brand. You can see the Pearl flakes sparkle in person. We took laborious steps to carefully dismantle the chassis, clean and prep and then start a long time-consuming process of sanding prep, applying 3 full coats of paint, more multiple grit sanding between each coat, followed by 4 separate clear coats. This is followed by ample proper dry times and then the finishing touches of buffing with heavy cut compound followed by a final buff with swirl remover.”

The PC components that come in this slick mod are as follows:

  • Intel Core i7 870 Tray
  • 2 DDR-3 Corsair 2GB 1333
  • Single- EVGA GTX460 1GB Video Card
  • Gigabyte GA-P5-USB3
  • NZXT HALE90 550 Watt PSU
  • Hitachi 1TB 16MB SATA-2
  • Sony 24X SATA DVD RW
  • NZXT White MB24P ATX Power and 6P VGA Extension Cables
  • Windows 7 Home Premium (64bit)

This Phantom Mod full system worth more than $1,200 will be given away when the total fan number hits 4,000 fans at LEVEL 10. To join the contest and be eligible, follow the instructions on their Facebook page.

Tushon added myself to their page. I could always use a free case or a $1200 computer.
  2. Zuntar
Zuntar Simply stunning case. I've followed Bills work for many years; always inspiring.

Just look at the paint job folks!

  3. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster I would love to enter but...

    Intel and Nvidia, ewwwww.....

And, being serious for a moment, I just don't dig the whole change your avitar rule. Fan us, like us, whatever, thats great, hey, tell a friend, thats cool too, tweet about us, okay, I can do that, but change your avitar to our corpoorate logo for a month, to me, thats just going a little far. My facebook avatar is part of my online identity, its of me and my kid. I'm just not going to change that to win fabulous prizes.
  4. Garg
Garg I don't know about the side grills, they look kind of "bolt-on." The rest looks great, though. That paint job is incredible.

Cliff - agreed about the avatar changing rule. I'll support a company I like, but since my photo is associated with my identity, it would feel like a bigtime sellout to change it to their logo. I'm just not comfortable with that.
  5. Zuntar
Zuntar Agreed with the avatar issue.

The grills are bolt on, but that is part of the look..... Billet is Sexy!!!

@Cliff who cares what's in it man, beggars can't be choosers!

Hey, anytime anyone agrees with me 50%, I'll take it....

About the components, I'm mostly being a wise ass, but seriously, I'd feel all dirty inside if I had an intel / nvidia based system, I'd have to gut it and put in some quality AMD components.

Its a hot case, I'd love to enter to win it, but still, I am not changing my facebook avatar. It would make me feel like a corporate sell out or something. I would not even do that if AMD asked me. Heck, even if Brian woke up one morning and said, hey, you know what would really help Icrontic, if your facebook avatar was the Icrontic "i" with the hat... I love everything Icorntic, but seriously, thats my facebook avatar, it belongs to me, and no company have it (unless they pay me a handsome sum, and then, maybe, come on, we all have a price :vimp:) To enter a contest though, nope. NZXT is a great company, they make cool stuff, I'll like em, I'll re tweet something for them, provide them with some marketing data if they ask, but changing part of my online identity is where I draw the line.
  7. Kwitko
Kwitko Cliff, If you win, send me the gutted parts. Beggars can't be choosers.
  8. Bill @ Cliff, I've got a Black Phantom here, I can do an AMD/ATI system install just for you. You know where to find ;)
