AMD renames The Foundry Company

globalfoundriesAMD recently spun the production arm of its firm into an entirely new company known as The Foundry Co. Now that AMD shareholders have approved the process, The Foundry Company is officially known as Globalfoundries.

Globalfoundries will field contracted jobs in addition to the fabrication obligations to AMD. It has also retitled all of AMD’s old foundries with a vastly more reasonable scheme:

Fab 1/Module 1: Dresden, Germany. 45nm SOI production.
Fab 1/Module 2: Dresden, German. 32nm production.
Fab 2: Albany, NY. Presumably 32nm production.

And that’s that.

mas0n :sad2: I liked the simplicity of "The Foundry" but I 'm not surprised it wasn't permanent.
  2. Linc
Linc "The Foundry Company" was badass. Globalfoundries sounds like a bunch of suits in a small meeting room trying to sound important.
