In a surprising move today to celebrate 10 billion Android App downloads, the Android Marketplace began selling spotlight apps for $.10 each. That’s right, a measly ten cents will get you top notch applications with the likes of:
- SoundHound
- Asphalt 6: Adrenaline HD
- Minecraft – Pocket Edition
- Swiftkey X
- Endomondo Sports Tracker
- Great Little War Game
- Sketchbook Mobile
- Fieldrunners HD
- Color & Draw for Kids (Phone)
- Paper Camera
…and those are just today’s deals. It’ll be interesting to see how many times this strategy is revisited in the future once these initial ten days are over. The obvious business advantage for Android here is to get people to (finally) add credit card information to their account to pay for the $.10 apps … because seriously, they’re only $.10.
Once that’s done, the mental hurdle of breaking down and spending some more cash on the $.99/1.99/2.99 deals an offerings suddenly become easier. You’re only a button click away from continuing to buy apps at that point.
For now, head on over to the Android Market and jump on these deals!
