Yes, you read that right. Steve Jobs and Apple are planning to hold their annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) on the same week as the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3). This breaks from tradition, as for the last four years it has always been held the week after E3.
How this will affect the attendance for both conventions remains to be seen, as there is definitely some crossover in whom these conferences cater to. Considering that Apple often uses the WWDC to announce new hardware and software, rumors are flying around that they actually may not announce any new hardware or software this June. However, since speculation around E3 is that consumers may get the first hands-on experience with the Sony NGP, and many rumors suggesting that Nintendo may allude to its next console, Apple has a lot to compete with for eyeballs and the frenzied pens of journalists.
If you were able to go to just one of the shows, which one would you go to? Is this Apple’s attempt to take over the gaming industry? Perhaps Apple will drop a nuclear bomb of gaming news and announce a new gaming console. Imagine the chaos.
