In the Box
This Vapochill LS was purchased from the folks at www.kit-tronics.com, who were a real pleasure doing business with. It was received well packaged and in good condition. Lots of styrofoam was used, and the unit was securely held in place. It would have been nice to see a little more packaging on the sides of the unit, as there was a lot of empty space inside that could pose an issue if the cardboard were to be punctured. Inside, I found the Socket 754/939/940/478 CPU kit isolated in it’s own bag, along with another containing the chill control board, cables and installation manuals.

At first glance, it looks very daunting with numerous parts. The Vapochill LS can be thought of as three separate components, which can all be ordered separately from Asetek.
- CPU Kit: My unit included the A64/478 mounting kit (as specified when I ordered the unit). It includes the insulated ‘clamshell’ and retention unit/back plate, springs, mounting posts, washers, stick-on heating elements, and several pieces of insulation for various socket types.
- ChillControl Unit: Includes the chill control board, plastic adhesive standoffs, internal USB cable, and power switch header cable.
- Vapochill Unit: The unit itself, including case mounting hardware, paper cutting template, evaporator hose, chill-control hookup cables, and a pass-though AC power cable. All of the cables are connected to the unit and are not intended to be disconnected.
We’ll take a closer look at the individual components once we begin the installation.
