GeForce GTX 295 preview

nvidiaThe guys over at [H]ard|OCP are running an excellent preview of NVIDIA’s newest dual-GPU solution. While we’d normally stuff things like this in the ticker, it’s a brand new product and worth taking a look at.

The GTX 295 design is much more elegant that what we were exposed to in the past with the GX2. So while some might argue, it looks as though leaving the plagued GX2 moniker behind is not only a good idea but a just idea as well. Surely time will tell though, but our gut feeling is that support moving forward on this product will not be as slipshod as what GX2 support has proven to be in the past.

BuddyJ Also check out Bit-Tech's preview of it. Tim's seems pretty unimpressed with it at this point.

bullzisnipr Just a way to thrust themselves back in the lead for the fastest "single" card over ATI..

Thrax Just like the 4870 X2 was a way to thrust ATI back in the lead for the fastest "single" card over NVIDIA's 280.

bullzisnipr Yep, wish we had this type of competition between AMD's processors and Intel.

Usually means lower prices for older cards so ya, +1 from me too. :D Also, I thought we did have this type of competition until Intel came out with the C2Ds. C'mon AMD, get back in there. :[

Newer cards. Imagine what a 4870X2 would cost without the 280 nipping at its heals, or vice versa. The 280 was close to $600 when it first came out. Within two weeks of AMD launching the ATI 4870X2, the 280's price was cut in half.

bullzisnipr Yea, it's amazing what prices do with competition. Just imagine how cheap Intel would be if AMD was actually a competitor to their leading chips.
