HTC Droid Incredible shipping today

Verizon Wireless has announced that HTC’s Droid Incredible is available for purchase starting today.

The latest, greatest flagship device in the Android ecosystem sold out within two hours of initial availability. Verizon has additionally confirmed that new online orders will not ship until May 4. Parties interested in getting their hands on the Incredible this week are advised to visit a local Verizon Wireless store instead.

The Droid Incredible by Verizon Wireless

Shown right, the HTC Incredible offers a 3.7? AMOLED display with a WVGA resolution of 480×800. Dimensions for the phone are 4.63? tall, 2.3? wide and 0.47? thick, smaller than the Nexus One in all dimensions save thickness, where it’s 0.02? beefier.

On the subject of hardware, the Incredible continues to deliver with a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon QSD8650, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM (320MB free), 8GB onboard storage and a microSDHC slot for up to 32GB of additional space. The handset also offers 802.11b/g/n (an industry first), an 8MP camera with LED flash, A-GPS and Bluetooth 2.1+EDR. Trackball haters will also be pleased to learn that the trackpad is optical.

Moving to software, the Incredible hits the shelves with the complete Android 2.1 application stack and unfettered access to the Android app store, as well as HTC’s newest and critically-acclaimed Sense UI.

The move to include Sense forces HTC and Verizon to drop the “Google Experience” honorific, but that’s an immaterial decision given the drastic improvements Sense makes to an otherwise bog standard Android install.

As a final note on the software, Adobe Flash Lite 4.0 is supported out of the box, while Adobe Flash 10.1 should follow when the binaries exit beta in the summer.

The Incredible can be had for $199 with two-year contract and a $100 MIR.

Ryder I may have to go to the Verizon store and see this phone myself. Still not sure about the lack of hardware keyboard.
  2. MiracleManS
MiracleManS I'm in the same boat about the hardware keyboard...but damn does it look like a snazzy phone.
  3. pragtastic
pragtastic lol, 2 of these in my office already.

jpparker88 my contract is up today...wonder if my store has one. but it looks a lot like the htc hd2 on tmobile.
  5. CB
CB I dropped in the Verizon store to check it out this evening. I think that this will be my next phone.
  6. wpeltola
wpeltola That's actually pretty nice! This is a phone I'd be willing to retire my Blackberry Storm for.
  7. Aranyic
Aranyic I'm with the people who can't get over not having a hardware keyboard yet.
  8. CB
CB I've been without a hardware keyboard since I got my LG Dare almost two years ago now, and I'm used to it. I tried the keyboard on the the incredible, and it's jusr about the same as the one I've been using.

I didn't like how fingerprinty the screen was, but a good scratchguard thing will fix that.
  9. Snarkasm
Snarkasm Or a simple wipe every once in a while. On my Desire, it's not particularly endearing when the screen's off, but when it's one, you can't even see the prints all over it.
  10. ardichoke
ardichoke After having the Nexus One for about a month, I can honestly say that it's rare when I find myself missing a hardware keyboard. The screen is so large that the touch keyboard is very useful and the auto-correct handles 99% of my mistaps with ease. I'd suggest that reluctant soft keyboarders at least check out a demo phone, you might be surprised.
  11. Thrax
Thrax ^ I had the same experience with the Moto Droid.
  12. AlexDeGruven
AlexDeGruven As for the software keyboard, HTC has been lauded for a long time in putting together the best in the business. Even to the point at which people started repackaging the .apk for other non-HTC android devices.
  13. Sean a powerful device like this can make me forget everything i want in a phone, act brand new like i have never had a phone!!!lol
