A mysterious image being distributed by Apple to sites around the web has confirmed that iPhone OS 4.0 is soon on the way.
Though nothing is concretely known about this year’s major OS revision, there are some rumors that have gained steam over the last several months, including:
- Multi-touch gestures for the entire operating system.
- Multi-tasking capabilities, with support for third-party applications running in the background, as well as a task manager that allows users to juggle running taks. How Apple intends to handle the oft-cited “battery life” concern remains as debated as the very idea of iPhone multi-tasking.
- Graphical and UI changes, including a refreshed home screen and improved notifications.
- A brand new syncing ability for contacts and calendars.
Whatever the mojo in Apple’s next update, all will be revealed at the OS 4.0 event on April 8.
