More proof of an AT&T-ready Nexus One

More proof of an AT&T-ready Nexus One

After early signs that Google and HTC are silently preparing a Nexus One compatible with AT&T’s 3G network, a recent FCC filing has given further and significant indication that such a device is indeed in the works.

According to Engadget on behalf of a contributor, the FCC recently published RF compliance results for a device with an ID of NM899110, whereas the original Nexus One bears an ID of NM899100. The new device was also tested on WCDMA bands I, II and V, better known as UMTS 850/1900/2100MHz, whereas the original Nexus One was tested on WCDMA bands VIII, IV and I, or UMTS 900/1700/2100MHz.

As Engadget said, “Same label style, nearly identical model ID, different bands — we think we know what’s going on here.” Even so, it is not known when such a device–if it is as real as appearances suggest–will launch, but we’d place our bets on a mid-March or early April introduction.

ardichoke That's probably because it's going to be sold directly through Google, the same as the current T-Mobile Nexus One. They are just adding the AT&T 3G band in essentially.

If they do that, every CSR and Manager is going to shit a brick.

ardichoke No they won't. Google selling the phone directly is no different than Best Buy or any other 3rd party selling AT&T phones and plans. Plus the current Nexus One already works with AT&T, just not the 3G band.
