Poland brings Auschwitz museum to Facebook

facebook_logoHoping to promote awareness and education about The Holocaust, Polish authorities in charge of Auschwitz have recently created a page for the death camp on Facebook.  The page will have information about the Auschwitz museum, links to their website and YouTube channel, and a discussion board.

“We’re always trying for new ways of reaching people, and in today’s world one of the most popular tools is the Internet, and on the Internet millions of people use Facebook,” said museum official Pawel Sawicki.

Sawicki stated that the museum needed a place where discussion could occur, but the page would be monitored to make sure that abuses did not happen. If you’d like to join the discussion, you can check out the page here, where the first board topic is whether or not the page should exist at all.

Cliff_Forster The way I see it, its simple. If you see value in it, explore the page, if not, nobody is forcing you to look at it.

If there are people that find value in the "what kind of lover are you" quiz, and for the "suck on the lollipop" application, I imagine a few people will find value in the historical significance of the Holocaust.
  2. Thrax
Thrax I think it's important that this kind of information and education reach a whole new generation of people. Facebook is a great way to do that, and I'm glad the museum's authorities have taken these steps.

FelixDeSouze Facebook = fail.. Prob the worste invention ever..

I had a lot of trouble from weirdo people on it and got rid of it as a result. Since I've not been on it my life has been better lol.

I find it funny to see all of my friends checking facebook 24/7 while they are out on their phones.. It's sad really. lol
