Runic announces Torchlight 2

Today Runic Games excitedly announced the sequel to their surprise smash hit Torchlight (which we gave high accolades when we reviewed it last year). Highlights of the sequel include co-op play (currently at least 4 player, but possibly more), customizable characters (as opposed to the generic classes available in the first game), a randomized overworld, a new user interface, and a retirement system.

Torchlight is quite possibly the definitive dungeon crawl game. When it launched, Runic Games was a small indie developer who made it a point to communicate with gamers, fans, and the press. Besides making what is basically considered a perfect game, they are just a cool company made up of gamers who haven’t forgotten why we’re all in the business: to have fun.

According to the teaser site, we can expect a PC digital release in spring 2011, with a Mac release shortly afterwards.

PhIxX As far as simple dungeon crawlers go, I found Torchlight sort of charming... granted, I wouldn't have paid more than I did during the $5 steam sale for it... hopefully the 2nd will fix some of the more frustrating dynamics of the first... and hey, who can argue with multi-player.

fatcat still need to finish the 1st one.

I'll probably wait until this is $10 on steam due to the fact it won't be more important than Diablo3, Mafia2, Dragon Age 2, Guild Wars 2 and whatever else I'm playing (WoW Cataclysm)
