A Closer Look
Behold the Apogee Drive! Part pump, part block; a very interesting Swiftech creation. The pump is powered off of a 4-pin molex connector, while a 3-pin connector provides RPM information to the motherboard.
The two integrated connectors are both designed to accept 3/8″ inner diameter tubing. The flow direction is labeled, but needs not be considered for this kit; only if additional blocks or accessories are added does flow direction matter.
The Apogee Drive comes pre-configured for LGA775 mounting. An X-shaped backplate is included and is our preference for this socket. AMD AM2 and 939/754 mounting accessories are also included with the Apogee Drive.
The base of the Apogee Drive is nearly perfect. It is ever so slightly convex at center, but the effect is so slight that it is barely worth mentioning. The base is lightly polished and nice and smooth as well.
The MCR120-Res radiator is a slightly oversized 120mm radiator with an integrated reservoir. The two 3/8″ barbs are in a slightly odd location compared to most reservoirs. It is constructed of brass tubing and copper fins.
A small reservoir can be found at the top of the MCR120-Res radiator; another two-in-one component from Swiftech. The entire radiator is painted black but the paint flakes off easily if scratched so you’ll definitely want to mount it with care.
