Visiting HEC

Visiting HEC

We stopped by the HEC booth to see what these guys are doing, and they’ve got some seriously cool products in the wings. Firstly, they’ve developed a pretty sweet case that appears to have decent features and a plethora of management-friendly features.

HEC's tuner-friendly chassis

HEC's tuner-friendly chassis

  • Removable motherboard tray
  • Tooless design
  • Cable management gets cables behind the mobo tray
  • Sliding power supply rail to accommodate larger power supplies
  • Antec-style vertical fans at the top of the case

Seriously, this case was pretty swank, though I’m skeptical of its front intake fans.

They’re also working on a line of bronze and silver-certified high-wattage PSUs. We don’t have complete details on these units, but you can expect them to come onto our test bench relatively soon.

mas0n I wish more manufacturers would do removable motherboard trays.
  2. Leonardo
Leonardo I've had several cases with removable motherboard trays. It is my experience that if the case is large, a removable tray is not that important of a feature. With a large case, I can disassemble and reassemble a computer just as fast without a tray. Smaller cases are another matter. For me, the most time consuming chore is not components and motherboard removal, but cable management.
