lol. I'll have you know that *most* of my stuff (at least computer-related stuff) I have to buy with my own money. I don't bother asking my parents for stuff anymore because the answer is inevitably either "no" or "sure, but you have to do x, y, and z first" where x, y, and z are things like pulling off a 4.0GPA for an entire school year.

.. and you will learn to appreciate every penny/cent ;)

Im 29 years old. No CC's, no debts. No credit or finance agreements.

If I was to (worst case scenario) die tomorrow. I wouldn't leave a debt for anyone to clear.

Beat that when you aren't living with ya folks Kev.

Be prepared now and learn to appreciate cash ;)

When you are out on your own in later life with a good job, having struggled like hell avoiding debt.. your buddies will be paying off huge debts.. and you will be flipping them the bird while going to get yet another new toy.. in cash.. because you aren't paying off $400 a month in CC bills ;)

I disposed of all my cards a few years ago, but I still had mounds of debt piled up. As some of you may recall, I was unemployed for nearly 2 years, then finally got a job. I managed to settle with 2 of the 3 CC companies I owed money to. I am now paying off the third monthly, but I got them to freeze the interest while I do so. Amazingly, I managed to remain a good credit risk throughout all of this.

Yeah I did a massive bill consolidation two years ago. It was the best thing I ever did. Not only did it get us back on our feet, but it fixed our credit in 12 short months and got rid of so much pressure... Now, two years later, we were able to buy a second home with no down payment.... I recommend bill consolidation to anybody who is in debt.

So after a year, 3 semesters, I only owe about $4k. I dont think thats bad at all. This year I dont think I will double that. I am hopeing for less than $15 in the whole after college.

How much of that money you have do you actually earn, Kevin? Like with a job?;)

I just shove it all in my bank account. I'm trying to pay for college on my own here and I want to take as little possible in student loans.

I've been promising myself ever since digital cameras were available that I would purchase one when they became affordably available with quality lenses. Well, it took a few years before you could find one with a lense much better than garden variety. Prices are now approaching what conventional quality SLRs used to be. After settling in Alaska with my new job, there are two purchase priorities: 1) dining room table, and 2) digital SLR camera.

Leo, I can highly recommend this camera. It is truly excellent. It takes phenomenal photos, and is a true SLR. Since it's an EOS camera, you have a gigantic selection of lenses and accessories for it. I just got it today and I am like a kid in a candy shop with this thing, it's like I'm rediscovering photography all over again. Actually, I feel like I'm discovering it for the first time.
