[00:33] TD: we'd be awestruck at its awesomenessness
[00:34] TD: it'd make a great pron server
[00:34] TD: omg, think of the pr0nput on that baby

The only thing better for these two would be if the server case was molded into the shape of a female porn star and made of "material that looks and feels like real flesh."

    Actually, It's two of these:

    http://www.sun.com/storage/tape/l700/

    and one of these:

    http://www.sun.com/storage/midrange/6000/6900/

    So, instead of being a pr0n server, it's a pr0n BACKUP.... duh!

    //edit:

On the L700 page, it says "small footprint" under benefits.

SMALL FOOTPRINT? THE THING IS LIKE 6 FEET TALL x 3 FEET WIDE x 3 FEET DEEP! When I think of small footprint, I think of Shuttle SK41G or MSI MEGA.

"Hi, Thom? Yes, Hey, it's Brian.. Could you come in to the office with me this weekend? I put that new Sun L700 on my desk and the farkin thing snapped in half. Can you help me move my new desk?......"

Hmmm... Maybe they have free time because things are going more smoothly with the gear all at th better datacenter???? And fewer viruses to pick up after adn make noise that gives problems that turn out not to be site servers at all but have to be checked???

What admins do with free time is to look for an learn about toys, adn learn new ways of doing them. Adive, look at Opteron servers unless you need a box that can Run solaris and Linux (the linux part is still in the works at sun, and they are buildin multi-O\S capable machines and will have a Linux for those boxes available, possibly through a partner like RedHat, which is moving to a more Open Source model after losing business to Linux pubs that stayed more open source.

One good change, I keep one demo account open so I can track RedHat dev and lately (with last survey) they decreased the frequency of surveys to 60 days between them and they do NOW take 5 min to complete typically. I also know enough at this point to be able to get updates from Europe.

Since you are quoting admins, I will not fail to insert info admins might like here and there.

    :REAL WIDE GRIN:

(Warning, my reaction is when faced with things that seem sideways, to throw curve balls and get them back toward tech, though I AM trying to limit that tendency to intgrate too far sideways.)

John, who is happy the line in the sand got drawn. I use this ID simply because that way it is the same as at Icrontic. I did not mind too badly that I got banned for 30 days, it let me cool off, and I did honor the ban to the day. In fact, the line gettting drawn let the admins have less time firefighting and get things looking VERY sharp.

:BOW DOWN::KUDOS: :respect: (I am in the quick reply editor and have not memorized all the codes for smilies yet.)

We gather here today to pay our final respects to this thread. He was cut down in the prime of his threaddom. Some say this thread had the life sucked out of it when a group of ruffian thread crappers took it in a completely different direction.

Others say it was just thread's time.

Well, whatever. My hands are getting tired. I don't feel like typing anymore.
