I feel really lucky to get my speeds at only $14.95/month. I'm apparently only 8,000 feet from the DSL station in my area, so I get blazing speeds. I think they claim 1.5mbps/385kbps, so I'm getting very close to that.

Optimum Online... they seem to have some great speeds at reasonable prices!
Edit: just found their website and they're not available in my area. Theres tons of options for cable internet in my area though. A lot more expensive than my DSL Express
Apparently, I put you all to shame...not quite sure why I'm getting these numbers try after try, but I can tell you our network on campus is not this good.
Hell I can't even pull a decent ping to play anything on the internet.

On Nildram, but I normally get ~118 down, 31 up, I can only assume the slowness is down to their servers or my slightly dodgy connection thismorning. What is annoying is that I would have got 2Mb for free but my line doesn't support it (it barely can take the 1Mb, grrr, crappy UK phone service).
Doing a UK test got me:
Downstream 921 Kbps (115.1 KB/sec) 994 Kbps (inc. overheads)
Upstream 236 Kbps (29.5 KB/sec) 254 Kbps (inc. overheads)
(OS was registering 120+Kb/s when the test was running).
My schoos Sdsl connection (It would be faster if I didn't do this at lunch )

Comcast top 'o' the line. We pay like 60 a month for everything but we got a REALLY good deal. Without that I'm sure it would be like 120 for everything.... ugh.
Some of you guys think you have it bad. Try this for size:
We only have ONE telecommunications company in South Africa. Naturally, they have a monopoly. They have just launched a home and business DSL 1024. Yes, that's no typo the fastest speeds we have here is 1024 and that was just launched last month.
What do we pay for these breathtaking speeds you may ask?
R400 installation. R680 monthly line fee and another R256 to the internet service provider who then provides you with a 3Gig shaped monthly cap.
At a current exchange rate of R6.40 to 1$ that comes to about $146 per month and a $62 once off fee.
