    Heya tactom! Welcome to short-media.com.

As you may or may not know, we at Short-Media are team #93.

    To get you started, take a look at <a href=http://www.short-media.com/forum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=4>this thread</a>, and get <a href=http://www.stanford.edu/group/pandegroup/release/beta/FAH3.25-Console-beta.exe>this file</a>.

The thread will link you to a team short media preliminary information page, and the second link is the client for Folding @ Home. It's a Dos based client.

When you start it for the first time, it will ask you for your name (Tactom), team # (93), folding priority (Idle), processor usage (100), core priority (FAH). Once you've got those settings, you're good to go. If you like what you see and wish to establish folding as an autonomous service in Windows which you don't have to start and stop manually, let us know!

When you go to start the client, make a shortcut on your desktop pointing to the client, and add these two command line switches on the shortcut under the "Target" heading: -advmethods -forceasm

That will significantly speed up your folding if you have an Athlon XP/Pentium 4 or greater.

    Again, welcome.

Welcome to the team and the site, tactom. Let me extend my sincerest apologies for the general buffoonery that you may witness on this site. As you can see, we are overrun with buffoons.

Mayhaps you could bring a bit of civility to an otherwise silly place.

    or not...

Wow...the big three right in your welcome thread. If anyone gives you any grief...let me know. We usually take them out back and run over their toes a few times with the company Lada.

First, you guys are crazy and I like that which leads into your question. I'm a defector from another team (which will remain nameless) that took itself a little too seriously. My first priority is the science, however, I want to have fun doing it.

I've been visiting your site for quite sometime now and have been impressed and now here I am.

Y'all seem to have it in balance..........well, maybe not....

Aww, MM, I'm touched... I'm one of the big three now?!?

But perhaps MediaMan said what he did in the pejorative. Big three, sort of like the Gang of Four. (If unfamiliar with Gang of Four, maybe RWB can supply another history lesson.)

Isn't Gang of Four a musical group?
  • LeonardoLeonardo Wake up and smell the glaciers Eagle River, Alaska Icrontian
    edited October 2003
Re: musical group - could be. I was referring to the ruthless, elitest leaders of the "Cultural Revolution" in China. After the disruption or destruction of a couple hundred million Chinese lives, the Gang of Four was disgraced and vilified.

So there, now we all know.

Gang of four? I'd think we are more like a gaggle, a flock....okay...maybe not a murder...but gaggle would be appropriate.

    Lada...mmmmmmmmmmm...
