    1. I'd just like to point out that nothing said about Shorty was said by me.

    2. In the interest of digging a deeper hole for myself, I've used my uber-l33t <strike>paint</strike> h4xor skillz to <strike>photoshop</strike> obtain a top-secret image of the cover for Short-Media's first full-length movie:

But I'll call Travolta's agent tomorrow morning and see what I can do. ;D

you have the duallies overclocked? what mobo?

    MSI K7D's and one Iwill MPX2. All cpu's with the L5 and L3 mod's.

L5 is for dual operation and L3 is for multiplier correct? You don't have to do bridges for increased default vcore? <- dependent on mobo?

what's the cheapest I can get one of those dual boards and 256 of the registered or ecc ram for? This would help me free up some stuff for donation :D

For some reason, it doesn't seem right to give a straight answer, but what the heck; L5 to turn 'em into MP's and the L3 to change the multiplier per this link:

    http://www.ocinside.de/go_e.html?/html/workshop/socketa/tbred_painting.html

If you use one of the above, then the Vcore is adjustable. Tyan's don't have an adjustable Vcore and would require a mod to the bridges per the link above. Neither of the above require ECC ram as long as you only use the first two slots.

Prices: Check Newegg, that's the best I can suggest or go to eBay, that's where I found the Iwill for $155.

I'm goin' to have to punch up my responses to keep up with this crowd.......starting to feel a little like an undertaker.

GH, yeah... I just looked at it again and I finally got it (little slow on teh uptake... must be tired) and that thing shwaip did was hysterical.

One question tho: if Shorty grabs his phone books and pedal extensions out of teh S-M Lada, couldn't he maybe reach taht stick?

Quick! Someone grab the phone books! ;D

you mean straight as in easy answer or non-goofy answer cause I've done quite a bit of unlocking and bridge modifying but just like to make sure of things before I attempt them. Thanks for the good info - nice to hear I can get away with regular ram. I've been putting off upgrading but turning two machines into one will give me something to do.

So what's your highest duallie set at? (multi X fsb)

    Straight as in non-goofy.

    Iwill: 15x157
    MSI: 17x138 (the MSI's don't like "higher" FSB's)

    Air cooled with SLK-800's

The only thing to watch out for on the L5 mod is ensuring that the bridges have been exposed. Even though they look uncovered, they actually is a clear coating that has to be removed mechanically, e.g., an exacto knife...light scrapping.

tactom, that's strange... I've got dual 2500s in my K7D, and it does 150MHz FSB quite happily, even with a near-full load of cards (graphics, RAID, USB, sound)

I know, that's what I expected too, but I limit the voltage to keep the temps down. I'm not running anything over 1.75v. I'm sure they would do more if I cranked 'em up, but made a choice awhile back to keep things as cool as possible. As long as I get the mhz I want, I'm happy.

Hmm... it could be, because my dually is almost identical to the system you described... (K7D-L, 2 2500s, 2 SLK-800As...)

Anyhow, it appears The Short One has not seen this thread yet, judging by his cheerful response to the thread he's got going where he's selling your CPU for you, Prime :D
