It seems to me that the biggest thing we have to gain from alliances would be to maybe get ourselves in good position for the server restart. Find out who is serious and who isn't and try to get in the same area/alliance as them next time.

It would be interesting to be involved with the endgame too.

I'd like to be protected for as long as possible and maybe be a player (small) in the end game. I want to see as much of this game as possible before I'm wiped out.

Side note... the longer we stay around, the more likely we'll have a chance to obliterate godsend and peleus. ;D

Or at least watch them be obliterated. ;)

    Message to Gen-X-1, co-leader of Zero X...
    Lord Gen-X-1,

Good evening (your time). First off, I would like to again thank you for the support you have offered several of us from the {IC} Alliance over the past few weeks. Many of your members have been vital to the {IC}'s development and growth. Fourstar, Draggs, Dory to name a few. I personally list Fourstar a close friend (both by proximity and friendship).

That being said, my alliance is beginning to see that the main battle for the end game is approaching fast and we want to be a part of it. As of right now, we are posed to break into the top 100 alliances and believe we can provide support towards the final battle.

At this point, our loose association with PANTH and it's shrinking wings has become more of a liability than an advantage. The {IC} Alliance is looking for another coalition to support.

The {IC} Alliance hereby requests an alliance with Zero X (and fellow Zero wings). We are prepared to even tack on some sort of "ZERO" nomenclature to our Alliance name if required.

Please consider this request and let me or FelixDeSouze know if you require anything from us. Again thank you for your past support and we look forward to working with Zero for a run at the end game.

    Lord Q
    Seneschal of the {IC} Alliance

I think this is pretty diplomatic: I just slaughter all of his scouts. No questions asked. Hahaha!

NICE... that will either make him back off fearing a major defeat OR a challenge and send 10,000 troops and 200 catapults. If he's just looking for easy resources, he SHOULD back off. If he's looking to increase his offensive rankings, he will come back.

Peleus didn't take the hint after losing most of his troops several times. Hope this guy isn't like Peleus.

Good call on 500+ scouts. A good defense is one that can't be easily scouted :)

It all depends on the player. If I find someone has a bite, I leave 'em alone and say "good onya". Others take it as a personal challenge.

Hey guys, what do we want to do about these three guys to our north? They seem to be 3 friends in different alliances; 2 are in TSN wings. I guess options are raid, remove, or NAP?
  • Invisible-MuffinInvisible-Muffin Scotland
    edited April 2008
easiest option would be a NAP/alliance offer.

allying, if possible, would essentially extend our outpost as we can call on them for help if needed.
    i prefer the diplomatic approaches

How big are these guys? We could message them and see if they are serious about the endgame. If they are not then I don't see raiding as a bad thing. We could use the extra resources, but if they do have strong alliances then maybe we should just ally/trade with them.

Yeah, the alliances are fairly big. The only reason I'd consider just removing them is we're so far away. Meh. I guess I'll just wait for them to make the first move... after I take the oasis in the middle of them, heh.

I'd be proactive about it... Offer at least a NAP for now. We're approaching the top 100 alliance list. We're not exactly small anymore.

Personal or entire alliance? I don't think their settlement there is alliance-directed, it seems to be the 3 of them doing it for some reason.

//edit: My reticence to talk to them stems from not wanting to give them the opportunity to verbally claim the 50% wheat oasis. I'm taking it, end of story, so I'd rather just do it so it's the de facto situation.

Are we closer to you they they are from their friends? If so, take the oasis and sit tight. If they have a bunch of friends closer than we are, take the oasis and then offer a nice personal NAP. That's my opinion.

This is only 10 spaces away from all of us at the outpost ;) (-70|290). They have no one anywhere, and we're all right off their border. Hell, I could destroy all their villages before their alliance could reinforce them.

I suppose that would put them at "a disadvantage" diplomatically speaking?

I was approached by Smithy of Kamikaze to see if I wanted to join up with him. I told him I was happy with my current alliance but would possibly be interested in opening discussions to have some sort of mutual beneficial arrangement since we are close to each other in rank. I didn't promise anything as I definitely do not speak for our alliance, but what do you guys think?

Kamikaze seems to be a bit smaller but they have a huge list of myth NAPs. Maybe we should look into a NAP with Myth.

Keebler, you want to tickle Weltenbummler about setting up an alliance between Kamikaze and IC?

    Greetings,

I am writing to you in the hope of initiating diplomatic relations between our two alliances, my main reason is in order to protect the well being of my troops, allow me to explain.

One of your number is part of a group of players that seem to have earned the sympathies of a very strong member of one of the largest alliances in the game, not something that is to be criticised, it must be nice to have a guardian angel.

My lads are trying to achieve as much as they can in this game and attacks on members of the aforementioned group have dire consequences for achieving this. So would I request at least a NAP between our alliances so that the colour of your players shows as green / blue to mine, I also intend to send out a bulk IGM to the effect that all of the aforementioned group are off limits for the benefit of any of my team that are colour blind!

    Best regards

Several of the Firehouse folk ( Knutsford's fellow fire fighters like Mobberley), Broady, and a few other besides me all made it crossroads with Gen-X, Fourstar, Dory, and Draggs. Many of them have severely squashed raids intended for us. I think that has frightened them.

The kicker here... They kicked Knutsford and his brethren out of their alliance without notice then attacked them. I was able to pick them up and help defend them. Also... Eddiemad left ARRSE and joined Myth | C.

I am willing to enter into an alliance with them. HOWEVER, if the need arises and we are forced to drop them in order to join Zero, I would drop ARRSE like stock in American Trans Air (ATA). ;D

How about just an NAP then?
  • Invisible-MuffinInvisible-Muffin Scotland
    edited April 2008
i'm not too bothered, since none of my farms are ARRSE people, and they're a decent size it seems like an ok decision for now.
and i agree with Q's comment on Zero, if we have to drop them, off they go!
NAPs are pointless in my opinion, since the rules don't block attacking NAPs, its just frowned upon by both sides generally.
if we ally, we COULD try to get them to back us up the way we helped PANTHER
  • QCHQCH Ancient Guru Chicago Area - USA Icrontian

The ARRSE coalition is a tier 2 group, in my opinion. Pantheon (panther) is now a tier two coalition. We are just one small alliance. We need to be aligned to help defuse raids. ARRSE will NOT protect us from Zero or Myth. They would lose and they know (or should know it) but if it keeps other Tier 2 alliances from attacking, cool.

I'd still go with the full alliance with them AND try to get the other ARRSE wings to follow suit.

    Zero X Update:

I believe we are being scouted by them. Two Zero X members (dobbin & fidget that are REALLY high up the charts just scouted two of our top 12 players. I am wondering if they are checking to see what kind of troop count we have. They didn't check TBonz, Keebler (Felix), or me, but I find it interesting. Stay tuned.
