He can have Cantrellia Major. I just use it to funnel resources to Cantrellia Minor. One less village means I can rebuild in the Outpost quicker. Actually on the 4th I can build another village so if gs takes Cantrellia Major soon, I'll be able to have 3 villages in the outpost. :)

It occurs to me I would never have been as well-positioned at the powerbase as I now am at the outpost if he hadn't taken my villages. Trying to form a powerbase at that location with us starting as late as we did was a tactical error :-/

So are you saying that he was a ... [wait for it] ... god send in disguise?

Godsend attacked me this morning at Jephiroth :-(

What is the best strategy against him?

I was ALMOST about to send troops to help defend you. I was recalling them from the oasis. They would have only prolonged the siege but taken his senator. But, alas, he took it a few minutes ago. :(

Anyway, the best approach. Don't know. None of us have survive long enough to find a successful strategy. Since he attacked a few days ago, I have been popping troops out and sending them to hide in the oasis. Soon I should be able to create 80 level20 spearmen an hour. When that is ready, I should be able to repel one wave. Since it's my capital, he will never own Aries. All he can do it level it.

He's already taken the village from you if I'm seeing it correctly.
As far as I can see in the attack reports.
It says he owns the village now. :(

He's definitely got to be on the hit list if we can get big enough or a coordinated attack with another alliance/alliances when we can muster it.

The only defense is 15,000 lvl-20 Praetorian behind a lvl 20 wall.

    Anyone?

    Anyone?

Is this guy literally taking everything in the area? Should I consider making Medlock my capital so he can't have it?

i think keebler may have just cracked the defence strategy...
or the equivalent for the other tribes, phalanxes and spearmen.
those in the powerbase should either abandon all hope, or concentrate all power into the above troops

Yep, I lost my village in the 'powerbase' while I was taking a test. I knew I could only prolong the eventual take over, but I wanted to make it more difficult for him. Now I'll just focus on the outpost.

I have paladins and spearmen. All level 20. The problem is that I screwed up on Tuesday. I bought 500 spearmen.... and forgot to upgrade my barracks from level 1. 72 hours to make 500 spearmen!!! DOH. So, until tonight, I have my hands tied. Paladins are already at 500 and growing VERY fast. With over 40k per hour pouring into Aries, I can almost produce enough to train a spearmen and paladin constantly.

Remember one thing though... with so many villages in the old powerbase, godsend can probably produce one of each every minute and still have left overs. I hope to stick it out long enough to get into Zero so godsend will back off.

Godsend won't chase us to the outpost. If he does, he will be at a tremendous tactical disadvantage and I'll be ready.

Any village at the "powerbase" is gonna get taken. Just use it as a springboard for villages at the outpost.

There's nothing one can do against cata's, right and attacking him would just wake up his alliance. What can we do? Evade him? If only there were an oasis or something to train troops faster.

    What you can do:
    • Start demolishing extraneous/expensive buildings (like the Bakery & Blacksmith)
    • Send resources off to the outpost
    • Build defensive troops / armoury / Wall / Residence
    • Demolish Hero's Mansion to level 10, then jettison your oases (starting the 2 hour countdown) and demo Hero's Mansion to level 9 when you see attacks incoming. That way he can't cancel losing the oases.
    • See if you can get your Residence to level 20 and use it to found a second village from there. That multiplies the "branches" of villages that can be used to found more.
    • Hide a thermonuclear warhead in your cranny (requires level 15 Reactor)

Care to elaborate a bit more on that? Like create a mini-guide to running away from GodSend, I mean evacuating to the outpost.

DESTROY YOUR POWERBASE VILLAGES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE UNTIL IT ISINEVITABLY TAKEN OVER
to make them less useful to godsend when he takes them.
and make defensive units just for the sake of hitting him.
    i think that's what he's saying.

don't decrease your wall level, since that's completely destroyed after a senator takes over anyway.
you can't decrease the resource fields without cata's, and we can't use them since we'll be banned by the multihunters.
so you'd have to find a generous local

Someone mentioned attackers being unable to take villages from you if you have less than 4, right? What happens in that case, is it destroyed and no longer exists or was that inaccurate (and he gets the village anyway)?

That was inaccurate. On Speed servers only your capital is safe.

Your capital can never be taken but it can be leveled. If all the buildings are gone (or the majority) the village disappears.

Thats not true either, I lost my first village, even though it was my capital after making a 2nd village. I then went a while without a capital until I founded Vorbis @ the outpost which I have subsequently made that my capital.

AA, sorry to hear you're the latest victim. :(

It's a damn shame we picked a spot for our powerbase just a stones throw away from this servers biggest a-hole.

ok, the actual rule about capitals etc is this:
Your capital cannot be captured by senators/chiefs/the gaulic thing.
But if you own more than one village, and the population is reduced to 0, it vanishes off the map.
if you have one, it stays there as 0 population.

Well all that hard work actually paid off. Godsend has finally turned his attention to Medlock (3 attacks in an hour and a half), and I managed to get my settlers the hell out of there earlier today.

I just evacuated all my troops and as much as I could in resources, back to my first village. I'm using the time left on the attack to demolish everything I can.

EDIT: Doh, what happens to my troops if the village they came from is blown to pieces?
