I assume we are doing a land rush at that time, semi-coordinated in vent?
The plan is that we are sharing land. If I had it my way we'd outline a town and build starting with walls of safety then set up mine entrances and the like inside or close by on the outside. I've already built to scale blueprints of my ideal town hall/mine entrance complete with crafting stations/smelting stations / storage rooms via pencil and paper.
1. It's not really a land rush. Running off into the wilderness or acting by yourself will probably get you killed. Kits will be disabled, as will teleports, spawn changes and so on. It's going to be a pure game, and there are consequences for death.
2. Minecarts and tracks work, which means people need to be building with a 4 tile-wide track space in mind (going/coming/walls on either side).

It's kinda far off in the distance, but I think you get the idea. (the actual path is underground) There's so much lava down there you'd think it was the planet's time of the month.

Cooperation is best.
Have you played this game before? I thought the actual premise of this game was one person alone in the wilderness attempting to survive.
That is why.
Single player is boring.
Stupidly early moring Minecrafting FTW then.
Not need a space in the middle to prevent carts stalling other carts?
A middle tile row can also be used for iron efficient boosters.
Edit: I also vote for a 5 wide pathway system, mostly for aesthetics I just like things to have a middle.

I'll try to stake us out a good place for New Atlantis...
