Unless you are a huge Steinbeck fan, skip Fisherman's Warf. I found it boring and Monterey is expensive in general.
Roscoe's is worth doing once. Why not hit up the one in Hollywood while you are there? (admittedly both the chicken and waffles were a bit bland but worth it to say you have)
Venice is a must. People watching at it's finest.
I 2nd Grifeth Park Observatory. Just know their public events are packed and there are limited options to/from and for parking.
There is less than nothing to do in my neck of the woods (read: desert) unless you want to see an SR-71 up close but I'll be joining in as much SoCal Icronticness as possible.
The RZA was just on Californication. (irrelevant, sure, but he's my namesake so WTH)
OMG....so many things to do!! Apparently this will be one packed week...and I can't wait to meet all of you lovely (sounding) west coast-ers!
My humble opinion on the millions of things that have been suggested:
@myrmidon... we could leave the "science museum" to the boys, but I can probably manage to slum it for the sake of others, even though it's got to be downright simplistic for an IRL scientist. Also, you'll be happy to know that KBBQ has successfully infiltrated the middle of the country. It is delicious though Can I make a request to add some sort of sushi/seafood meal, since we're actually in the vicinity of an ocean? And some sort of "real" Mexican food that's not slathered in cheddar cheese? Hollywood (for no other reason than the kitch factor/photo ops) sounds like a must, and Santa Monica pier/venice beach too, please. Also, someone mentioned a Farmers Market?? I miss green things.....
I also like all of @teramona's ideas - tea and Disney (rollercoasters!!!) sound awesome; although one of those things is likely right at the top end of my daily vacation budget, so if we go, I'd really like to get my $'s worth - maybe take a whole day early in the week (mon or tues?) then head up to SF for the next 2-3 days?
Last time I was in SF, it was raining and shitty when we went to the Golden Gate bridge, so I'd like to give that a second try, please; also Alcatraz and redwood forests sound exciting. I was kind of meh on Fisherman's Wharf, but will totally defer to whatever the ppl that haven't been to SF yet want to see
Finally, all bar and 97.5% of all board game related suggestions sound like good plans.
PS, this Roscoe's place cannot beat the fried chicken and waffles in the south. You just can't. And I don't even LIKE fried chicken...or waffles.
There are TONS of other farmers markets in the area, many with the same merchants that go to Culver City. I'm sure we can find one in the West Side/South Bay area, don't know about the valley or other parts of the city.
Also, Roscoes is Southern Style, but no, it ain't nothin like the real deal, but for as a Southern boy, its about as close as you can get without spending an arm and leg for "gourmet" (ROFL) southern food out here in LA
Unless you are a huge Steinbeck fan, skip Fisherman's Warf. I found it boring and Monterey is expensive in general.
Monterey also has the aquarium which is quite nice. I didn't think the city was that expensive though. I lived there for some time and went back on vacation two years ago. Wasn't too bad price-wise...unless you're buying a house...
Ryan, Marie, and I get in Saturday ~530pm. So we will be around that area Sat evening(2-11), Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, and then back for Saturday. Leaving on Sunday (2-19).
@pigflipper looks good to me, and the timing is probably much better than Tuesday. I'm assuming this is closer to Myrmidon's? (I have no concept of where things are in LA yet....)
No, I live on top of the airport, Mar Vista is closer to Venice but still a ways from Myrmidon. Yay crazy spread out city area of 8 million people wrapped around mountains and coastline.

Can we call this whole endeavor "Icronifest Destiny"?
Sounds interesting, @Teramona I'm so excited to see everyone!!!
I would like to take some time to lay out what we know so far...
List of available things to do -
In LA Area, base of operations at @myrmidon's place: Drive up PCH to Neptune's Net Getty Griffith Park Observatory (Hollywood sign) Griffith Park Hiking / abandoned zoo? Hollywood (.) various restaurants Tea Farmers Market Disneyland
In SF area, base of operations @UPSLynx's place Redwoods hiking / overlook drive Alcatraz Japan Town Board Game day!
@tiberiuslazarus, @malia, and @cannonfodder will be available for pick up at 5:30 pm PST (5:45?) on Saturday the 11th. The following is something approaching an itinerary - if you want to assign something to a specific day or meet up with us, I figured it would help if you knew where were going to be!
Saturday, 11Feb12 Assuming 1.5 hrs to get to @myrmidon's place, we should be there at about 7:30. Hang out/ dinner / drink
Sunday, 12Feb12 explore LA/visit the ocean/drive up PCH? I would suggest not going to museums on a weekend, just saying This might also be a good day to meet up with @pigflipper and @nights and anyone else that wants to see everyone
Monday, 13Feb12 Disneyland!
Tuesday, 14Feb12 Getty, Griffith Park Farmers Market
Wednesday, 15Feb12 Travel to SF, meet up with @UPSLynx Evening / Dinner in San Fran? Hang out / dinner / drink
Thursday, 16Feb12 Visit the mountains/redwoods / hike / explore all of the things ... drink...?
Friday, 17Feb12 Board game/recovery day/drink day Travel to LA in the evening This would also be a good day to see anyone in the SF area
Saturday 18Feb12 TEAAAAAA!!!!!!!!! Also hang out, other suggestions? This might be another day for others to meet up with the group and hang out. ... there MIGHT be some drinking involved.
If we're going to Griffith Park, we need to go on the weekends. It's closed Monday and Tuesday. And also, getting Griffith and Getty AND the Farmer's Market in the same day is pretty impossible. You also want to take into account the traffic - I'd like to do my best to NOT show you rush hour traffic.
depends how long you want to do it. Griffith is really good after a PCH drive, but PCH on sunday is a pretty bad idea - all the kids want to go to the beach on sundays. You might move the Getty to Sunday, but it'll be stupid busy then.
How about... we do some exploring on Sunday along with Griffith in the evening, and the Getty/drive on Tuesday?
Seriously, though, playing it by ear depending on daily deals is a lot better. We can save Griffith for any night when we're not tired, and get Getty done any day. There might be an improv show with Nathan Fillion or Felicia Day or something that you'd miss adhering to a rigorous schedule.
The thing is trying to meet up with other people, its nice for them to know where we are going to be.
The only things that are "rigorous" would be the Disneyland and trip to SF.... which would mean we are unavailable to one group or another We'll wing the rest then :P

@pigflipper I think the best explanation I can give you would go in your mouth. YOUR MOUTH.
No, but seriously, price and taste were my big problems. I like the idea, but their recipes were blarg.

Also, what, pray tell, constitutes "gourmet southern" cuisine? Is that an oxymoron?
I want to go to the Farmers Market to get some fresh green veggies and some of the awesome Andean food (PLEASE LET THOSE GUYS BE THERE!)

Of course, all these are temporary, I just wanted to put this all together in a logical way so we can rip it apart and decide how it looks.
@UPSLynx, and @myrmidon, will those dates work for you as far as going between SF and LA?
