Funny you should say this. When I was in Iowa, people kept saying stuff like, "wow... what a nice warm day". Meanwhile, the weather application on my iPhone was telling me that it was 29 degrees outside. It gets cool in California. What occurs in the midwest and on the east coast is something completely different. While "cold" may be a sufficient enough word to describe it in passing, I believe short stories can be written on the subject.

The winter ski parka that I will be wearing when I leave WI has a zip out liner for "warm winter days". Think that will be sufficient?

Also, I have a friend who's going to drop in from the high desert tomorrow, so we'll have a fair-sized group! I nominate we follow dinner up with drinks. Hollywood, or dive, or whatever.
Yeah, I live near LAX, let me talk to the lady to make sure she is cool with people dropping by as she is going to be doing some work time in the house tomorrow. I hope she is ok with it, especially since we live about 10 minutes (with traffic) from LAX.

Thankfully (and horribly timed) I got a job tonight, meaning the next three days I will be working 12+ hours training and expo'ing in the kitchen at Melting Pot. This means tonight was probably the only time I will be able to hang out and it was great meeting those I did not know before and seeing some old friends. Great time y'all. Might be free when y'all come back through next weekend, but not sure.

Morning guys! Sorry for the late notice, aunt and uncle from Northridge surprised me last night with a visit. Given that the 6 hour round trip will probably be longer than the amount of time I get to visit with you all, it looks like the Kenkel lives on.

Yesterday we ended up walking down Venice beach. There were some epic freestyle gymnasts there we stopped to watch. When we got to the pier, we found a DDR game at the arcade. Dan and I had a blast with some nostalgic arcade dancing. Apparently the crowd there isn't used to people of the amazing skill level we have, so we drew a large crowd to just watch us go through our (4!) songs.
The walk back through Venice boardwalk was interesting - about every 3rd shop there was a "doctor" out front asking us to come get our $40 prescription. Interesting that it happens.... just not cool for @malia who is allergic :/
Good times so far - we'll keep you up to date on the adventures today
Sorry I haven't been able to make it out there to meet with you folks - LA county is usually a forbidden zone in my mind when it comes to traffic, and my family and I barely have time to see each other right now until my wife's doctoral paper is finished.

The place you'll be staying stays cool with no AC needed. Which is a bad thing in the winter, because California heaters are mostly just for show.
