Morning guys! Sorry for the late notice, aunt and uncle from Northridge surprised me last night with a visit. Given that the 6 hour round trip will probably be longer than the amount of time I get to visit with you all, it looks like the Kenkel lives on.
Enjoy your visit! Make it further south, next time!
So, what you are saying is that you Kenkeled out? There's a reason it's called that... :-)
Yesterday we made it up from LA to SanFran. And we drove through a snowstorm to do it. It was pretty epic.
We explored a bit of Santana row, looked at how a Tesla (car) works. I had fun asking technical questions of a confused sales guy. We had a few drinks at the yard house and learned that the custom in California is to not split checks unless you ask upfront. Our server was very helpful explaining that the entire system is set up to not allow it.
We also went to get sushi, but apparently a lot of things close at nine here. So we had Thai.
After that we played a game of Vegas Showdown. @Upslynx lost, lololol
Yesterday we hit up San Fransisco. We did the tourist things, like walking down Lombard Avenue, checked out Fisherman's Wharf (took some pictures of Alcatraz and the Golden Gate bridge from here), and we had some amazing irish coffee at The Buena Vista.
After that, we ate some sourdough bowls and soup at Boudin's sourdough factory. It was pretty awesome We needed a place to meet up with Dan, who had to work, so we stopped at Vesuvio's. Due to Dan having the magic ability to create traffic in a city that doesn't usually have any, we ended up spending about 3 hours at this place. I loved every bit of it - the atmosphere was interesting, the waitress was amusing, and they had a nice corner on the upper level for us to occupy.
Once Dan made it to us, we bought him a drink to cheer him up, then made our way via taxi to Japan Town to eat at On The Bridge. I've never had "Italian based Japanese food" before, nor do I expect to ever again because it is so original. The food was amazing though. We were about to go to Soju, but Bobby was a responsible host and looked up the BART schedule. We had about 20 minutes to get from On The Bridge to the last train of the night.
We quickly paid our bill, found some taxi's (2), and got to the train station. We ended up having about 1 minute to spare, so no big deal. The train ride back made us rather sleepy, but a few of us hit up the hot tub.. where we got kicked out of since it was a bit late. Meh
I don't remember much after that, apparently I fell asleep or something.
I won't be making the trip back down, I'll catch you in a couple months.
Yesterday we went on a San Francisco excursion. Took the crew up Hyde street, saw the cable cars, walked down (a strangely empty) Lombard street, then out to the wharf. We stopped at the Buena Vista to get boozed up with Irish coffees, then dropped outside to see the bay, the Golden Gate, and Alcatraz. Grabbed some sour dough breadbowls at Boudin, visited the antique arcade, then headed up Columbus street to hit Vesuvio, my favorite bar in the world. We chilled out there for about three or four hours waiting on Dan to meet up with us. Had copious beer. After Dan showed up, we made a blitz across town to hit up Japan Town and have delicious dinner at On The Bridge. Realizing we only had 20 minutes to get to the BART station to catch the train out, we booked it via cab and caught the last train out of the city.
Then a few of us went swimming and got yelled at by a rent a cop.
Home! @cannonfodder is a wimp; weather was beautiful, and approx the same temp as Dan's apartment. Srsly though, thank you everyone for a great vacation!

Had an absolutely awesome time. Thanks to all
This week was pretty incredible. The winery and the comedy show being two of my personal favorites. I, too, am quite thankful to everyone!

Great album
That album really puts into perspective the ridiculous amount of things we saw in a few days.
