@Thrax - have you had any experience with AliExpress.com? Looks decent, and the prices are relatively in-line with what I'm seeing elsewhere for HK/China shops.

We were rooting around in Dan's mom's basement for things we wanted to bring back with us to California... and I stumbled upon a watch collection that Dan had apparently forgotten he had. I thought it'd be kind of neat to post here.
And then this one, which had belonged to his father.
Also, through this find, we realized that we both had worn several watches on both wrists in high school. Hashtag Meant To Be.
I think it might be day/night. No matter how much I wind it or move around, it seems to steadily move counter-clockwise. It's also strange because it has markings from 10 - 60, with 50, 60, and 10 in the black and 20, 30, and 40 in the silver.
Either way, I dig it. Kept time overnight, which is all I can really ask for at $22 shipped.
I'm keeping the plastic cover over the crystal for now while I see how badly I bang it up. I'm not used to wearing a watch again, and my old one (Seiko) was a sapphire crystal, so I could generally use it as a hammer in a pinch.
That's a cool movement. I've been trying to land a different treatment of it for several months, but I haven't quite been willing to pay its going price.
@CrazyJoe: Every man needs a Timex weekender in his collection. Mine is the black dial/red second version, with a charcoal grey strap.
@primesuspect: one of us, one of us, one of us! You could start with a "B" condition vintage Chinese watch, this one is from the brand "Dongfeng." Just $35 shipped, and you're wearing a piece of horological history! Plus it has the word "dong" in it.
It's a 35mm watch, so you could check this website to see how it might look on your wrist before you buy.
Yep. I liked that version too, but since the Amphibian is also Red/Black I went with blue. I picked it up for less than $30 at Kohl's.
Most of my work polos are either blue or red so it works out. I didn't know if I'd like the style of strap, but I really do after wearing it for a few days.
5 weeks having passed, I'm pretty sure my last watch order never got delivered (or it walked off my doorstep). Back to the drawing board for me. Where "drawing board" = @Thrax's eyecandy marathon of an eBay search!

Pretty good selection in the Jaragar department.
Here are two great searches to start with:
Jaragar watches
Inexpensive Chinese mechanicals

At worst, I'm out $17 shipped.
I feel an addiction brewing.
YAY!
I like it. It's big and heavy and pretty.

Edit: My addiction grows. Just threw a bid on this one. Unf.
It's the ST-1201/ST-1206 by PTS Resources.
Also, @AlexDeGruven: I SEE YOU
It'll hold me over until my Vostok Amphibian gets here from Russia.
Picked up this strap to go with the Amphibian as well.

At $60, you could step up to a much newer/better condition Sea-Gull, which is one of China's best and most innovative manufacturers.
//EDIT: And this is a great deal at just $28.
