Allows you to choose a game, and see if your system can handle it using an activex plugin from futuremark. Pretty neat actually.

Requires Microsoft Internet Explorer to run though

Bloody hell, I just said "oi", didn't I? ****. I think I'm turning English. :-X

ANYHOW, yeah, it's kind of a poinless utility for the computer-literate readers of this site and our Über machines, but being told "Congratulations! Your system is sufficient to play Doom 3 (tm)!" and seeing that arrow all the way over in the green section of the graph makes me all warm and fuzzy inside. (and frankly, being reminded of the 3.2GHz Xeons and the 6800GT doesn't hurt either )

Regarding this "tool".. it's quite useful but worrying when I tested my work machine and saw just how few games would run on it

What have you got in your work machine? Oh, and besides... you're in IT. Tell the boss you need that 6800 Ultra/FX-53 system for, uh, network security. Yeah, that's it. It protects the network.

I think Doom III is the only game on that entire list that would put half our PCs below the recommended specs. Not even Far Cry could manage that. For us it's just about how far above the recommended system the arrow is.

May actually be useful for my brother.
24 Sep 2004 ~ 6:19pm entropy Actually ... I was rated the second-highest bar. And Doom 3's minimum was like, 3 bars from the bottom. So yeah, something's off lol. Of course, I *suppose* you could run it at like, 320 x 240 and no shadows, etc

Some overclocking quickly fixed my "problem".

Something's definitely off though, because I know this system would not perform nearly as well as the listed recommended system. :bawling:

I think this Game Advisor is as much a marketing tool as an analytical tool.
