Please post your stepping, overclocking, benchmarks, any modding, and compatibility (for instance what chips work with what mobo's/chipsets).

Few Questions:
-What's the highest FSB you've gotten on this cpu?
-What's the highest OC you've gotten at stock vcore? 1.7vcore? 1.85? 1.95-2.0?
-Is your cpu unlocked?
-Temps @ stock and w/ OC?

If you don't own a Mobile XP don't be afraid to ask some questions. :leet:

I picked up 2 2400-m's for $79 off of Newegg.

    Stepping:
    AXMH2400FQQ4C 1034296240027
    AQZFA 0344SPMW 1999AMD

    Overclock:
Got one running at 200x12.5 (2.5GHz) @ 1.95vcore on the following system:

    Abit AN7 1.0
    Lian Li-PC61
    Tt SF2 @ fullrpm
Thermalright SLK947U (soon upgrading to SP97)
    Bios 14
    Windows XP Pro SP1
    AS5
    Buffalo PC3200 CH5 @ 2-3-3-11
    2 Sunon 80mm @ ~40cfm case fans
2 Tt SF2's at 1/4 rpm case fans
    Vantec Nexus

    Compatibilty:
I tried to run one of these in a Abit VA-10 (VIA KM400 ) and since the mobile processors boot up at 6x multiplier and the board didn't have any options in the bios to change this I could only run it at 800MHz.

    Benchmark/Temps @ Full Load:

Later on this week I'm getting an rma back from newegg with my nf7-s and I'll swap out the AN7 and see how this chip oc's fsb wise. Also I'll be able to test the other cpu I have sitting on my desk.

Bump--C'mon guys lets get some results.

Whats so good about these Mobiles... And do you have to have a certain board to use them? These seem to be just like the old 1700+ as far as great deal for high speed and overclockability goes.

    I agree,

Haven't seen that many mobile AMD cpu's do much better than a Desktop version. However, i think that it's easier to get a 2.5 gig cpu if you buy a Mobile.
Would be interesting to se what it does on phase. AL, does it need all of those 1.95 to reach 2.5?

What you get with the mobiles, Mack, are late production, unlocked bartons that have been sorted through to see if they can run at their rated speed with a lower vcore than the desktop procs.:)

So far, it looks like this 2600m I just got is maxxing out what my old Asus A7N8X 1.04 board can do with no problems. I have it running at 1.825v(1.8v set in bios) and 194X12.5 and folding stable with an original MC462 and Vantec Tornado, running at 38 C socket thermistor, 48 C diode temps. That is about the max fsb that old board is able to do and this Asus board I have can't set the multi higher than 12.5 on this proc. I will be taking it back out later this evening and dropping it into my NF7-S and see what the proc can do. I have a feeling that this 2600m should do well over 2500 MHz.

Until I getit in the Abit board, I'm going to back down the vcore until I find out what it can run stable at this speed.

I ordered a 2500+ last night. We'll see how well I can get it with what I have. I have an SLK-900(U) so things might go a bit better with an SP-97 but I'm not going to spend another $50 or thereabouts on an HS until I have to. :) My refurb NF7 came in today. Maybe tomorrow I can drop in one of the DLT3C 1800+ chips I have and get that thing folding. I just need to find the screws to keep the fan held onto the HS (man, I misplace too much stuff!) or hopefully Sears Hardware or Lowes will have screws that will work.

    Vcore(Bios): v2.03 Vcore(MBM): v1.95

    Ouch - FAH4 not Stable!

Increased Vcore to Vcore(Bios): v2.06 Vcore(MBM): v1.97 (I might have to switch PSUs the 12v rail has dropped to 11.5v! Estimate the CPU is sucking down ~140-150 watts!

    FAH Log still shows instability...

Last Vcore increase! Increased Vcore to Vcore(Bios): v2.10 Vcore(MBM): v2.00

Interesteing - MBM Vcore flucuates from 1.98-2.03 ......

I've noticed that my mobile acts weird with VCore.

Right now, it's set to 1.8V in the BIOS but it reads 1.76 - 1.78 in 8RDAVcore & MBM5. I'm curious as to why..

With my desktop 2400+, my NF7-S overvolted the smallest amount, so I don't see this being a total motherboard quirk.

I left it at v2.1 (from the 2.6ghz mark)

Over the weekend I'm going to drop the Vcore and find the lower limit

I have the same problem. I thought it was my a7n8x dlux v1.4 causing the problem but I see you're on a nf7s.

Can you tell me what are your cpu temps at 2.6 in your bios? My windows temps are fantastic hi 30's and low 40's in windows at 2.5ghz and above but in bios it's whole nother story when I push the voltage.

    Nice OC there Omega...
I have a 2500+ with the exact same stepping code and have had problems getting it Prime95 stable over 2420 Mhz (11x220) @ 1.9v.

I have since gotten it to sit pretty at 2401 Mhz (11x218) @ 1.9v priming for a solid 16 hours now. (Timings at 2-2-2-11 :p)

I'm kind of dissapointed to find this chip max out soo low compared to what I've seen others presumably do with the same stepping code. Maybe I'll drop the FSB tonite and just try pushing the processor.

Keep us posted with your stable OCs guys

My 2500+ XP-M has been @ 2.5GHz for 2 days now and the vCore is set to 1.8 so it seems to be stable, though the NF7-S undervolts so the vCore is really around 1.74v to 1.76v, perhaps even a tad higher. Temps are a bit high though as I've seen them at 53C. I'm wondering if lapping my SLK-900(U) would help improve temps . . . think so? This weekend i'm going to push higher and see if I can hit 2.6GHz or better. Once I install the new 80mm TT I think I might give myself a bit more headroom all I have to do is find those 80mm clips for the HS.

Lapping the slk900 probably won't do much, and they are designed with those microgrooves for a reason. The SF2 (if that's what you have) should help out a whole lot more. What fan do you have on it right now?
  • a2jfreaka2jfreak Houston, TX Member

Sunon 92mm. I forget exactly what the CFM rating is, but it's in the 60s. The TT is an 80mm and it's rated somewhere in the 80s I believe.

Well, I haven't had much time to mess with my 2600m since I had my refurb IS7 come in the evening before I had to go back to work and had to check it out with my 2.6 in case it was bad, but it's been running stable for the last 8 days at 2518 and 1.802v indicated by MBM. This is folding, of course. I don't know if I will be able to get it much higher presently as MBM is showing that my 12v rail is very anemic on this TurboLink 420 psu at 11.37v while folding. I'll have to see about getting me another psu for it before I venture any higher as I don't want to bork the proc or board by being too starved on the 12v rail so I guess I'll be pulling a Geeky and be checking the newegg refurbs religiouly for a psu.:D I have a feeling this 2600 will do much better than 2518 though.:)

Mudd: I prefer your temps, but if my CPU is @ 2.5 w/ a little less voltage then that makes me feel optimistic about possibly shooting for 2.6 or better once I stap on the new fan.
  • edited March 2004
Mine could very well run at this speed with less voltage, but I didn't have time to test it before I had to leave for work last week. I'll probably try lowering vcore a little and see how it does until I can get another psu for that rig.
