I hit 25sec and this program only ever uses one core!!!!
I knew my system was good but didn't realise it was that good

Kaneheal, thanks for bringing this thread back to life. Super Pi is a benchmark test that never goes out of style.

    14 seconds on System 4 in signature: Q6600 @ 3.5GHz

UPDATE: For curiosity's sake I ran it again with system at usual running configuration - two WinSMP clients, bunch of monitoring utilities, antivirus, and so forth. 15 seconds.
  • edited January 2008
I'd love to know what this program could do utilizing both cores. I ran this program with a basic cutdown. No antivirus side bar etc. Remember I am running a notebook too.
That is a very impressive score I must say.

I just updated my original post to the latest version of Superpi, which will give your time to the thousandth of a second.

Holy $*(T, only a 1 second difference. Did I ever mention that I really want my Quad 6600 . What a processor, especially for the price!

Here's a run I just made with my main rig. I'm not pushing the proc hard at all right now either. I need to upgrade to a different case so I can rework my cooling.

How well does one of those fold compared to a comparable 65nm quad.
  • edited March 2008
I can't answer that Marc because I switched to Seti over a year ago. But I can tell you that Yorkfield just owns over Kentsfield in Seti. My Q6600 is running only 190 MHz slower than I'm running this QX, but the QX makes 20% more RAC (like points in F@H) than the Q6600. And that is with only a 5-6% clock speed advantage. I would think that any cache sensitive wu's would benefit greatly from the larger L2 cache of the Yorkfield procs such as mine and the just released Q9450.

I dont know Seti but its probably completely different math involved.

That extra cache sure makes a difference, mudd! Even at an almost 300MHz lower clock, you outperformed my Q6600 in 1M. Those yorkies are awesome :)

Just for curiosity sake I bumped my QX to 4000 to see how it compares to your Q6600, lemonlime. I'm running at 10 X 400 with the ram at 1:1 and 4-4-4-12-2T timings as you can see in the screenshot.

Looks like it's about a second or so faster than your Q6600 at the same clock speed.

And you didn't need 1.55V either :) Have you found your max clock on that monster yet?
  • edited March 2008
No, I haven't really pushed it yet. I need to finish paying it off (damn it hurt to pay that much  ) and I want to upgrade the beast to watercooling, which means a new case (which I already need because of the layout of the TJ06) and a quality waterblock like a Fuzion. I already have a good waterpump, tubing and a dual 120mm heatercore radiator. I'm thinking of a MM U2-UFO case or something like that so I can keep everything internal. The pump I have, which is an Iwaki, is a huge beast and needs a lot of room for installation inside a case.

well i got 13.844 outta my rig: Intel core 2 duo E8600 3.33Ghz, 4Gb DDR2 RAM, Nvidia 7695GT 512Mb Pci-e Graphics card, 750 watt PSU, some mad Gigabyte motherboard, no overclocking, no watercooled fancy cooling system, just a pc i bought bit by bit on eBay, then assembled, then smashed nearly every super pi time on this forumn bar a few.
