Running them as I type this, with the new SW IDE drivers (was using Microsoft's default prior to this).

So far so good. I'll update if anything bad (or really good) happens.

    Well, funny thing happened:

After I installed the driver, and set up my desktop back to the way I liked it, I reset windows to go into the recovery console in order to replace the standard uxtheme.dll file with the modified one Shorty sent me a while back, because it somehow managed to replace itself with the original agan. After I did this, I found I was unable to boot back into XP (under "Safe Mode" or otherwise).

After the repair install, I find I am still running the 3.13 drivers. Being as everything is running fine now (while using the non-hacked uxtheme.dll file) I'm unsure if it was the hacked file (which has never caused this problem before) or if it was the drivers that rendered Windows unbootable.

Anyways, I'll try this again, see if it repeats itself... after SP1 finishes installing.

Ok, I uninstalled/reinstalled the video, and chipset drivers, as well as replace the original uxtheme.dll with the hacked one.

Everythings back to working 100% again, so it must have been something I did wrong.

    No problems here.

Sound appears to be of slightly higher quality, but that may be just me. Memory benchmarks are up about 100mb/s.

Okay, so I'm not hearing things either. Sound has improved. My 128kbps MP3s sound like 160 now. ;)

Any recommendations for system preparation before installation? I noticed the drivers are just bundled in a singel .exe installation file.

I installed right over my existing nForce2 drivers like an uncaring bastard.

Yeah, I just did that too. Guess they were designed to be installed that way. Well anyway, it seems like the sound quality from my system 2 is a tad better now. I haven't done any benching. Don't know about any other performance changes.

Definetly can vouch for the increase in sound quality.

This much awaited release comes only a couple of days after Microsoft oddly posted some new nForce audio drivers on their Windows Update site, before even Nvidia had chance to release them. As a result, compatibility problems with the new audio drivers followed. However, today’s unified driver release is presumed to bring the rest of the nForce driver architecture up to speed with Microsoft's premature release.

EDIT: The audio drivers contained in this nForce driver package carry the version number 6.14.366.0, which is slightly different to the version numbers which came with the two drivers recently posted on the Windows Update site.

In addition to other various driver updates, the new release also brings new IDE drivers, which I'm sure will be warmly greeted by nForce 2 users everywhere.

Well, what have you come up with? Primarily with the new IDE driver compaired to the default Microsoft?

    Odd.

I installed DX90b and now the soundstorm drivers will not load. I reinstalled the 3.13 drivers and still no load.

    Odd.

The new IDE driver seems much better. I'm able to do a 7-pass wipe on my goat pr0-- err... bible music much faster than before. I know that's not a scientific benchmark, but it's noticeably faster.

Damn drivers destroyed my WinXP install on my NF-7. BSODed in the middle of the driver installation, rebooted, said that one of windows' files is corrupt and to run a repair install. :banghead: :mad2:

    Grabbed this off the [H]:
    NVIDIA 3.13 Feedback:

First off, thanks to all of you that had input on the new nForce drivers that were released Monday. I do think that many folks are gun-shy about these new drivers as there have been some pretty bad reports about OS losses associated with them. Here is the breakdown on what was mailed in:

13 reports of successful installs without any issues.

3 reports of "ok" installs with minimal problems for the enthusiast.

9 reports of boot issues or BSOD issues that require an OS reinstall.

The voice of logic says don't utilize these new drivers unless you have a problem that you need to fix that you think it might help.

One system builder reported installing the drivers on 15 boxes today without incidence but did not say if the boxes were identical or not. The one common thread that we did get mail about and did see in public forums was most problems were had on systems that had nForce drivers previously installed, whether "removed" or not.

I have had more than a few folks recommend Mwarhead's nForce "Reset" along with Driver Cleaner. These two programs seem to do a fine job of making your system like a virgin...at least in the eyes of nForce software. As always, we suggest you back up everything you value before changing drivers now days. It just isn't all simple the way it used to be.

I used the 3.13 drivers on WinXP DX8.1 through at least 9 different benchmarking programs including tests of AEFX and Softimage. No problems.

My only problem is immideately after installing the DX90b Redistrib, which caused the drives to go into a complete partition by partition disk check upon reboot, the Soundstorm package would no longer load.

3.13 drivers were reinstalled to no avail.

    Pursuing.

I installed, had no problems, but for some reason my rear speakers aren't playing now in iTunes with the 3.13 at the same settings as the 2.45. Reinstalled 2.45 and they are back up again. Any ideas?

i think that might be software related. my friend had trouble playing mp3 in winamp 2.x, only 2 speaker, and then works fine in windows media player, and 4 speaker also works in games and winamp3. so try another player.

That's because his winamp2 is not configured properly.

He needs to enable the creation of a primary buffer in the DirectSound output in the plugins/output section of WA2 options.
