i feel terrible. i made someone with 60 population quit the game. i sent him/her messages saying to ask if he/she did not wish to be farmed, and a friend sent reinforcements which i easily decimated. i found out after this battle, that person is no longer playing.

If you take a step forwards you're getting repercussions, whether you feel them or not. Don't worry 'bout it until you need to or you'll end up sitting in a corner, rocking backwards and forwards clutching a keyboard mumbling "I didn't mean to... I didn't mean to.... I didn't mean to..."
oh and uh, what do you guys think about a bit of conquest? I found a prime target, there is a small alliance around us and some of them very near Hawk called UKK or UK-Kings

okay im calling oh %@*& on this one, alpha got scouted first by 500 scouts now 255, keebs got attacked at Lincoln, and im feeling uneasy about those guys by hawk. theyre not big, but im too far away to get to him in time if they come

You're going to defend against a Myth guy that's 2 villages larger than me? AT's best defense is to keep resources low so it isn't worth his time to pillage. And get those troops away if he attacks.

a2j is probably alright for now, assuming that "more" committed most of his force to his last attack on a2j. I sent enough troops to fend off 600 strong cavalry.

Well, perhaps not negotiate, but I doubt that Myth's Ethos is "Even if they politely ask you to stop and they are of no strategical value, kill them anyway just because we can".
If they don't know you, keep it that way. Let the people that are involved deal with it, although by all means give suggestions
