im bumped up RIGHT next to flint. my village is named accordingly. it might not be the smartest decision, but i want to focus on my main village. i only want to have to put focus on that one when it gets high in production or i think my main one is in danger.

You think I haven't noticed? :p It's a perfectly fine decision; like I said, it's probably the safest place you could possibly found a village. I'm building Flint into an impenetrable fortress full of nasty Praetorian surrounded by more resources and more Praetorian and more level 20 walls :D

im claiming the 9cropper (-56/280) this will be my first village in the outpost
  • edited April 2008
should i go all out off/defensive in that village?

in the outpost, the main focus is to be defensive, so i'd say go with the flow...

That's up to you. If you go offensive, please make sure your next village at the outpost has defensive troops. Everyone needs to be able to defend themselves to at least some extent.

Muffin makes a good point, though. There's not much to attack out here that Q and I aren't sorting out, heh.

    ok defensive it is :)

Tom, there's a problem there, I'm about to go for that last iron oasis @ -55/282

thats ok you go for it. we all have to make sacrifices for the good of the alliance lol

I figure we can offer another Coalition our defensive troops in the end game. Natars can field over 100,000 troops so if we can offer 50K and wheat to a Wonder village, that should help.

plus it will make us some big big friends for the restart...

especially if it's the winner we help!
    :D

if we want to pick the winner we will have to choose carefully.

    or just choose MyTh...

but we're not gonna back them...

maybe back a Zero dude, then we could win over their hearts... or something. lol
  • edited April 2008
So are both the Zero and Myth unnecessarily aggressive? Or is that all heresay?
  • QCHQCH Ancient Guru Chicago Area - USA Icrontian
    edited April 2008
They can be... they're not inherently aggressive but by nature, if someone messes with them, they come and lay the smack down. We are beginning to be of similar mindset. We had to lay down the LAW when CrazyJoe was attacked by a player with no support. Between Keebler and a few others, their villages no longer exist.

The difference, we don't go looking for that type of thing. It is a reaction based war. What we've found is that there are some real jerks that will attack just because. No strategical rational, just to flex their muscles. Peleus, GoDsenD,and a few others come to mind. If a player from a weak alliance tries that against one of us, we have the power to obliterate them without too much to worry. Myth and Zero are big enough that we cannot do that. We bring that much to bare and they will escalate. For now,we must run around between your villages to reinforce against attacks. It's working now. I think many Zero and Myth guys have been stung by the {IC} sword... and won't come back until they decide to wipe us all out.

Damn, I thought I called -84|265 for R-DAWG. That is why I moved him there was to take that 9 cropper. I guess I didn't because Gr81 is there.

Edit - Actually, I did reserve. Please don't take any of these other until I access which cropper Dawg should take.

About to eat supper so at this point not sure if these are listed yet, they are to our south-western flank.

    -87|270 - 15 cropper
    -89|271 - 9 cropper
    -85|277 - 15 cropper
    -89|276 - 15 cropper

Don't take these until I'm done supper and can check them again. My buddy R-DAWG is going to settle his second 6-cropper tomorrow, so I'm reserving the croppers for the moment.

Checking back (page 12), my claim did come before yours, but had I noticed I probably would have asked again before taking it. I was in a rush to get there because Valarius (sp?) had settlers on the way. It's a sweet deal...hotly contested.

Yeah, didn't know for sure if it was called, I was rushing when I posted that.

These two sites reserved for Dawg. Hopefully they aren't already called.

    -87|270 - 15 cropper
    -89|271 - 9 cropper

I don't want to step on anyone's toes, but lets not "reserve" or "call for" more than one spot UNLESS all the spots we're "calling for" are in the same 7x7.

Terry is calling for spots in the same 7x7, so I'm not posting this to point a finger. I'm just posting it because I think people will start to get pissy about locations as 9- and 15-croppers become increasingly rare and if someone "claims" a spot (while claiming 5 other spots too) it can lead to a bunch of crap that this alliance doesn't need.

//Edit: Terry, if you need wheat, go ahead and log on in about 35 mins (that's when C-Minor's merchants get back) and start sending yourself wheat.

    I can live with that.

Thanks Adam. I got the wheat under control now finally. Those 15 croppers are amazing, I can't build troops fast enough! Also, the trade office really allows some huge shipments, what a help.

Is -102|286 too far west? I found another 9-cropper that I'd like to take.
  • LincLinc Owner Detroit Icrontian
    edited April 2008
I'd say yes except a2j is already out there anyway :p

Why are you putting your outpost villages so far apart? Having villages next to each other enhances your options significantly, both for resources and defense. If you make that jump I would put the rest of your villages by existing ones after that.

Actually, there is a 15-cropper very close to The Crossroads but I'm not sure if I'm quite ready for that yet.

    EDIT: Reserving -80|273.

I think a better strategy, then, would be to found a village next to that 15-cropper and build it up.

It was a 15-cropper with a 100% wheat oasis. Too tempting to pass! Besides it's < 18m the way the merchant walks. My next village in the outpost will probably split the difference between the two.
